Great shaving bowl
This bowl fits perfect in the hand and lathers great with a few different brushes. I tried badger, synthetic and boar. All worked great and the bowl retains heat also. It's a well crafted stainless bowl that is light but also easy to hold one handed while lathering your brush. I typically use a cream and not a soap disc. With that being said, I would not leave a soap disc in any shaving bowl, but I believe you could leave one in this bowl due to it's stainless steel grade without any issues. You will like this bowl.

Compact and Yet Large Enough
It has a nice, machined finish. At about 2.6" tall, it's a bit deep for someone who uses something like a Chubby 1 brush, but in general this bowl is a good balance of height and width. I hold the average size brush (say 55mm handle length) between three finger tips to spin and generate lather.I think that overall it's a good balance of size. The person who wants to build gobs of lather (you know who you are) might consider the volume to be a bit too small, but you can decide for yourself based on the stated dimensions and your experience with other bowls and scuttles.I was choosing between this one and the Charmann, but since I didn't need a lid, I opted for the Grandslam.I gave it 5 stars for traveling, although I'd just face lather on trips, or purchase one of the collapse-able silicone slow feed dog bowls that Stirling Soaps sells for about $6.00. You can travel with anything of course - stuffing socks in the bowl so it doesn't hog space in your luggage.

A good bowl
Easy enogh to hold in my hand but I lather with a bit of room necessary and I find this bowl a bit narrow for my liking. It is tall enough to hold the lather in but just dosen't give me the room to work my brush the way I would prefer to work it. I am sure many would not have this problem. Its build and finish quality is very good and it is fairly light in weight so could be travelled with easily. It is easy enough to build a good lather but I perfer a bowl with more room and with a less smooth surface to lather on.

Outstanding bowl
It is a bowl. It is solid stainless steel. It is not heavy. Shaving soap fits easily into the bowl, yet doesn't rattle around. A blessed marriage of form and function. Five stars my people.

Looks pretty... that's it though.
The bad - Contrary to as advertised; it does NOT keep shave foam warm, at all.Contrary to as advertised; the smooth bottom inhibits generating a good mug full of thick foam. The good - It is pretty - if you care, lightweight so good for travel and small enough to fit well in your hand.My conclusion - I prefer function over form.
