If I Had a Gryphon Hardcover – February 9, 2016

Cute book. Bought as a gift, but I couldn't resist reading it myself before wrapping it.

We got this book from the library and loved it so much that we had to buy a copy of our own to read forever. It's the perfect length with great read-aloud rhythm and clever rhymes. The illustrations are beautiful and fun to discuss at bedtime. It's a fun, age-appropriate introduction to many mythical and fantasy creatures that nicely handles the difference between the real and imaginary.

Unicorns are pretty, but they're also very shy. On second thought, I'd like to give a hippogriff a try.This book is about a little girl who dreams of having a pet with strange, exotic powers! I love that it introduces young readers to wonderful mythical creatures in a playful way! The girl contemplates having a: unicorn, hippogriff, Sasquatch, gryphon, kraken, dragon, Kirin, jackalope, Phoenix, manticore, harpies, chupacabras, fairies, kelpies, basilisk, chimera, mermaids and sprites before realizing just how much extra work they would be to take care of. The story is told in a fantastic rhyme that easily flows from one page to the next. It's a great read-a-loud and the illustrations are incredibly cute too.

Oh, yes indeed a real keeper of a story! I work as an on-call Nanny in the Atlanta area and I can tell you, children LOVE learning about fictional characters. These fine illustrations and playfully shaped words ( like the word "shy" is much smaller than the rest of the sentence) has my children in awe of what they see and curious about the text as I read!This book is sure to be a bedtime favorite, being playfully whimsical and nourishes the imagination of your children simultaneously!

I love this book. This is my second time buying it for a kiddo. The art is adorable, the story is fun, and it’s just a great read (especially if you like fantasy creatures, but not a requirement). I’ve read this to kiddos ranging in ages from 6 months to 4 years old and everyone enjoys the pictures, rhymes, and the story.

I love mythology and mythological creatures. I bought this for my niece so she can start learning about them too. She loved it! She is only two.

I'm a kindergarten teacher and I got this book for my class library. The kids absolutely loved it! It was fun, entertaining, and had nice illustrations. I would highly recommend it for young readers and classrooms. :)

This book has catchy rhymes and adorable illustrations. This is one of those kids books that we enjoy reading as much as our kids love hearing.

This book is so much fun. A little girl has a hamster that she is mediocrely impressed with and goes through her thoughts of what would be involved in caring for a host of mythological creatures....unicorns, hippogryphs, kirens, sasquatch, basilisk, mermaids, kelpies, chupacabras, dragons, phoenix's, and a handful of others. It's adorable. I've read it a good 2 dozen times with my son (5yo) at least and I still find it fun. He notices something new every time.

Illustrations by my newly found favourite illustrator seem to keep my 8 month old daughters attention. A nicely rhyming story that takes a girls dreams of having a mythical creature as a pet and what the reality might be like. Maybe, just maybe a hamster is not so bad after all.

This book is wonderfully well-written and beautifully illustrated! The rhymes are clever and not forced, and the storyline is intriguing with a clever twist. There is a wide variety of mythical animals mentioned from a variety of different cultures. My toddler daughter and I both love this book and I would highly recommend it!

Love reading this book to my son. Its such a creative book, super fun!

Good book. Hopefully my kid doesn’t end up wanting a hamster.
