I had to retap the threads in the mounting holes. The mounting bolts from the original would go in a couple of turns then bind. I had the proper metric tap so it was no problem. The motor runs great. It seems to use less gas than even new with no loss of power. Yery happy overall.

The carb seems to work fine, but the holes are SAE, not metric as in the original B&S carb. As another reviewer mentioned, you will need to buy grade 8, 1/4" and 5/16" bolts to mount this. For you DIY'ers, I had to take the intake manifold off to switch carbs, so you'll need to buy the gaskets for the manifold too.

I saw 1 buyer wrote he had to retap the holes. Be aware this is not bad theads. The carb is tapped with SAE theads where your vanguard motor is going to be metric threads. Your metric bolts aren't going to work. You will need 4 5/16" bolt to mount it to the manifold and 4 1/4" bolts to mount the air cleaner base. The 5th hole in the base will still use the 6mm metric bolt. Don't try to thighten them if they won't thread in with you fingers you have the wrong bolts

Great product for a great price.

Only problem I ran into was mounting bolts on my tractor were metric and these required SAE bolts. Also top mounting air cleaner bolts had to be changed to SAE as well. Quick trip to Ace Hardware fixed this.
