Great value and highly functional precision tool
This rotary laser is a great investment. The self leveling feature is quick and very accurate. Moving it between several locations it always came back to the same zero point at about a 30' radius. I have no reason to doubt the manufacturer's accuracy claims. This model has the ability to also perform partial sweeps if you want a line painted on a wall instead of the full 360° sweep.The laser detector has a couple of limitations. As the other reviewer mentioned, this detector does not have a screen so it is very difficult to tell how far off dead-level you are. There is no manual for the detector provided (or online) and I could not discern a difference between the fine and coarse detection settings. Your range of detection is about 3/4" high or low for the audible alarm and you have to be within about 1/16" of level to get the dead-on tone. You have to hold the stick vertical to get an accurate reading. There is a bubble level on the detector mount to assist with this. Also, the GR8 stick only goes up to 8' in length. If you need more you'll have to invest in a GR16 or another brand. So, despite these limitations, you'd have to spend a lot more money for a detector with a display like the $300 Stabila DE-TECH. You might consider also buying a set of the laser-enhancing glasses if you're working outside. This would help in determining how far off level you are.The tripod is not extremely heavy-duty, but this isn't a heavy tool. It would be nice to have a vertical adjustment feature, but again this is built to a modest price. If you need more adjustability there are larger tripods with more features available for more money. The legs have a good adjustment range and are more than adequate to place the tool on very uneven ground. I have not had any trouble with it moving.Finally, it comes with a very large plastic Bosch case that has room for the tripod, laser, detector, grade rod, remote, and spare batteries. If you want a longer grade rod or larger tripod they won't fit in the case.It's a great package and well worth the money. I highly recommend it.
