My Very Own Rainbow

A really simple idea well executed. I was pleasantly impressed by the effect this created in a dark room. We have a 'perfect fit' blackout blinds in our childs room which may be why the contrast between the rainbow effect and the walls seems to look so much better in our photo than the other reviews - it shows that having a dark room is really key to getting this to look good. Boiled down to the basics this is a series of a few static colour led's closely installed on an arch, with a rounded mirror panel below it, at the perfect angle to spread the reflection of the LED's across a wall in am arcing rainbow pattern. The purists amongst us (my children included) will point out that not all the colours of the rainbow are present, but if you can forgive this sin then the actual display can look quite impressive. I bought this on a daily deal for <£9 and at this price I'm very impressed at the value for money.

Before buying the Brainstorm rainbow I tried another, cheaper, brand. I’d had to return both of those other rainbows because of malfunctions so I thought I’d try the Brainstorm in the hope that more expensive meant better. Sadly this wasn’t the case. The Brainstorm rainbow projection was so faint we could barely see it. It wasn’t any better build quality than the cheaper brand either & was also returned after some of the LED’s stopped working after a couple of days. Also, ignore older reviews that say this has a mains adaptor socket. This version doesn’t.

Pathetic light. Very disappointed. This is definitely not worth the price. The rainbow is feint unless you hold it close to a flat surface, in which case it is very small. Also it only seems to shine 5 colours - real rainbows have 7. The enclosed crystal is only small, and the ‘educational booklet’ contains only 4 lines of information about rainbows in 5 languages. Really not impressed!

I’m so disappointed, got this for my daughters bedroom for Christmas, I’m so disappointed!It has to be reallyClose to the wall to have a clear rainbow and it’s tiny, as soon as you move it a couple inches further back it’s a pale blur.What a waste!

The packaging was a complete waste of time... unlike the usual amazon box this order came in a paper bag! Once opened the box was in the right state, damaged on all sides. As it was a Xmas present I had no time to return it and find an alternative. My daughter asked for it but had she not asked I would of sent it back for a refund... it's nothing special, it's not bright and only shows a few colours, not the full "rainbow" as advertised on box.
