Mto bom, a narrativa prende a atençao, ficando dificil soltar o livro. Como os outros livros, a Dra Scarpetta está brilhante!

Loved it, can't wait for the next installment
Let's face it, your either love Kay Scarpetta and the stories Patricia writes about her, or you don't. If you do, then this book is wonderful and a super follow-up to the last book. It's so well written, I can't understand the people who have panned it. I have read everything Patricia has published over the past 20 years, and some books just don't cut it. But this one is a great story, interesting plot, lots of details and a few nice surprises. I am thinking that the people who gave this really poor reviews just don't like the character Kay and the stories associated with her and her family/friends. If you do like this group of people, then reading this book is like visiting old friends and getting involved in their lives for a short time. Cornwell stays true to the lifestyle and deeds of her characters, she doesn't try to change the way they react, she just lets them do what you would expect them to do if you know them from past books. They are like real people, flaws and all. I was very entertained by this book, I finished it in 2 evenings and can't wait for the next one.

What an absolute belter of a book!
What an absolute smasher! I know some readers in recent years found that the technical detail Cornwell went into detracted from the plot (I actually found this really interesting) and found some of the books pretty hard going. I found that "Red Mist," "The Bone Bed" and "Dust" were heading back towards the earlier writing style of earlier novels like "Postmortem," "Cruel and Unusual" and "Body of Evidence." However, "Flesh and Blood" really hits the mark and reads like her earlier works. I'm sure her earlier fans will absolutely love this book. The technical detail that Cornwell is famous for is still there, but it is less prevalent than it was a few years ago. There is just enough for those with interest in this field (or work within it) to keep them happy, and less enough to keep early fans from skipping a few pages. I found the plot to be pretty fast paced and genuinely wanting to turn the page to find out what happens next! So much so, I finished the book in only two (very long!) sittings! It is slightly shorter than recent novels, but I don't feel like I missed out on anything. No detail was lost and it felt like a natural stopping point so the story of Scarpetta, Benton, Marino and Lucy can continue on to the next book. There are surprising twists and turns in this latest outing for Scarpetta and it will keep you guessing until Cornwell decides the exact moment she wants you to know. You know a book is good when you start shouting at it and feeling foolish for not coming to the conclusion sooner! All in all, a really spectacular book and early fans who may have fallen by the wayside should really read this one. I don't think they are going to be disappointed.
