Such a waste of money
I must say if I were stranded on an island, or nearly anywhere else and had to choose one thing to have, it would be watermelon. Because of that, I'm the resident expert on the things. I saw this (or one like it) recently on a daytime television show and it worked perfectly. I was so excited, I hopped onto Amazon, found this and ordered it the next day. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I can see it working well on really firm and long melons. However, if the melon is soft AT ALL and/or a round melon, this will not work. We made such a mess with it, more than once, figuring hey, it could be operator error. After multiple attempts, I decided alas it was not operator error and reverted back to the tried-and-true trusty knife to cut my melons. Don't waste your dime on this.

OK, this tool is not new, but it was new for me, and I worried that the little cutter-bar might be flimsy and I wanted a tood that would survive a dishwasher without damage, and this tool is just want I wanted. No more hacking watermelons into pieces, and losing hafl the juice with each piece wilting and drying out. I now slice the watermelon in the rind, and by using the same tool, I can cut each slice into managable pieces right in the rind, removing each piece just before serving, which preserves the moisture and keeps each piece cold. It cleans easily also, so this is now one of my trusted kitchen helpers.

Do not buy. Stick with a knife and cutting board.
Of all the dumb impulse purchases I've made on amazon, this one is up there. Totally ineffective and difficult to use. I even youtubed the best way to use them and there's really no possible way to get what is advertised without being totally wasteful. You may get several decent slices, but the rest is just a huge mess. I've gone back to the good ol' regular knife and will probably end up throwing this useless junk.

I believe it is cheaply made.
used it today for the first time it wasn't a big watermelon very small. It Bent right off the get-go. I seen it advertised on YouTube they make it look so easy that one probably made in United States the other ones probably made in China. It just feels cheap and it bent really easy. It may work if you cut the watermelon really small before you use it. Like in four pieces. Whould I buy it again NO!!If it sounds too good to be real it's not just go back to using a knife.

I was excited to try this product since it seemed like a cool invention to cut watermelon, but unfortunately this product was a joke! The Watermelon Cutter is so flimsy that it wouldn't make the first straight line cut. After trying several times I tossed it into the trash and called it a loss and finished up with the ole dependable knife with less mess!Disclaimer: I received the Watermelon Cutter at a discounted price for my honest and unbiased review!

This Melon Knife Does the Job in No Time!
This watermelon knife is the real deal. It makes cutting of watermelon slices easy and quick. You basically slice the watermelon in half lengthwise and then with this knife, cut melon "smiley faces" pieces by slicing on the INSIDE of the rind. The melon knife also functions as tongs to remove the melon from the rind. This tool is getting a workout this summer. Gone is the drudgery of using a regular knife to cut out wedges.

Less messy way to cut watermelon
I received my Watermelon Cutter a few days ago and had the opportunity to try it out yesterday. There were no instructions on how to use it, so I checked it out on the web. When used the correct way, it is pretty much as advertised. It is a little difficult to pull through the watermelon, but not impossible. On the first try, I was able to get a slice and then remove it from the rind by turning over the slicer and grabbing it to remove. I am giving the slicer 4 stars because it is a little hard on your hand. It is a lot less messy with the watermelon cutter than with a knife, as the juice stays with the rind. I would recommend it.
