Great Book
They did a great job replicating the original first edition. There are some illustrationss that could be improved but most of them look great.

Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a Wonderful Adventure
I've seen the movie a hundred times and it has always been a favorite. I don't know how I managed to never read the original book. I finally did and loved every page. I work as a caregiver for a woman with dementia, and at this point doing projects with her has become difficult as her cognitive ability has declined. But I found that she really loves being read to. So now the problem is finding books that she can follow and that interest her. We have read a wide selection including To Kill a Mockingbird, Pride and Prejudice, Auntie Mame, and one of my favorite childhood books Roller Skated, by Ruth Sawyer. Those are the books that she liked. It's hard to chose since she is all over the place. So this time, since she loved Roller Skates so much, I thought I try The Wizard of Oz. This turned out to be an excellent choice. She loved it so much that we are now reading the original series. This edition in particular is special because it includes the original illustrations which are charming. We look over all of them and pick out the different characters and talk about the scene that is illustrated. The books are well written and interesting but also easy to follow. Plus these editions are so very affordable. My only complaint is that I wish they included the color illustrations like the Kindle versions do. There are differences in the book from the movie and the details are enchanting. Even though they are written for children, they have enough going on that they are fun to read to an adult and the situations are easy to follow so perfect for someone suffering with dementia. I realize my take is a bit different, but it's hard for caregivers to find enough things to do with their clients and the abilities of the orson begin to diminish. I also think these would be fun for a grandchild to read aloud to a grandparent. The books make for a wonderful shared experience. Very fun.
