Does its job
Man,When i got this, i thought it would be crap. Turns out, i been using it to replace Bottles i recycled by filling them up with water and reusing them. THis canteen, All i have to do is fill it up In the morning and most the time go all day without having to refill it. I love this bad boy and it really got a nice canteen cover and the inside is insulated,(it aint just Cheap Canvas LOL like i thought it would be) Keeping your water or drink cool. ITs very sturdy and the Canteen Clips onto the belt Nicely, Carried it one day quite a few months ago into walmart and didnt even notice it was there. EDC, yeah, i use it more than i realize, but the cup it comes with aint The best, it fits over the Canteen down inside the Carry case. I really like it and cannot live without it as i tend to use it all the time. Get yours, You can take water any dad gummed place you please.UPDATE 4/10/2013Still in good shape. I still use it and took it with me on a hike, no trouble. It holds up and I like it alot. Still about the same as when i bought it back in november. A good canteen for replacing water bottles. But if you want to do serious hiking, Probably need a better canteen, but since i am a tightwad, I buy cheap S*** and Make it last as my Philosophy is that a Penny saved is a penny earned. EDC to carry water, Fine. EDC for the military or on a hike? Maybe not a good Idea. And if i forgot to mention, It does not leak. I Usually down canteens that do and usually discard them. I have knocked this one over numerous times unknowingly and by the time I realize it i set it back upright but Still, No leaking whatsoever.UPDATE 11/4/2013Canteen still in Good condition. All in one piece, and Have drank water out of it since I got it back last winter. Nothing is broken, I have taken it everywhere, Done everything with it and its been by my side. I will buy it again 2 or 3 years down the line if ever I lose this one. INexpensive, and I got my moneys worth.

Great quality product!
I am almost positive that this item comes from the Pathfinder School owned by David Canterbury, because he has the exact same kit at the exact same price. I only bought mine here for the free two day shipping. I know David Canterbury only picks the best and most durable gear for his store, company and school. So I know this is good quality. The canteen looks to be standard military issue, as is the canteen cover. My only two gripes are the clips and the cup handles. The clips are cheap remakes of the military issue version. The military clips have a little hole at the bottom of the clip for the retention pin to slide through. These clips do have a fair amount of tension on them that can make them difficult to open up so you can attach them to your belt or other gear. I suggest pushing the clip in a bit when you open it, and it will require a bit of pressure to close again. That tension is nice for keeping the clip from wiggling lose, but you might want to replace it in a few years with military surplus as I imagine that tension might not make it to 5 or 10 years. The cup handles are a bit short. That can be an issue cooking over a fire, but if you know your way around a knife or a hatchet and a little bushcraft that should not be a problem just fashion a longer handle to insert into the little metal ones and you have a great pot for campfire cooking. All in all you can't beat the balance of value and price in this thing! Great deal! I am looking forward to taking this for a spin out at my grandma's this Thanksgiving! I'm teaching my dad how to shoot and handle a firearm. My grandpa taught me how to shoot and hunt, now I'm the one teaching his son the same things. Who knows, with a bit of luck I might be cooking up some squirrel stew in the cup this weekend over a campfire!

Works well after a quick fix
Received product quickly and good condition. The set as a whole seems to be good quality. The cover is durable and the cup and canteen fit snug. After thoroughly washing the cup a couple times I have boiled water in it three times just to test how well the metal and coating held up, and there were no cracks or flakes in the coating. There also was no discoloration to the bottom from exposure to direct flame. The bottle is made of a sturdy plastic. I was afraid from the picture that it would be made of a cheap transparant plastic but it wasn't. The problem I had was when it was full of water and I gave it a relatively firm squeeze, water came out of the gap between the cap and the lid, which was a result from the lid not containing any sort of O ring, which is why I gave it 4 stars. But after affixing an O ring of mine it stopped. I would and have recommended this to a friend. Update: I learned of a technique from a friend to turn this into an improvised fishing pole (...ish) Just wrap a length of fishing line to the lowest point of the neck, directly below the 'cap retention strap' and secure a hook to the loop created by the strap. Then when needed, throw your line in the water and use the bottle as an anchor point. Just remember that the bottle likely needs to be secured by a rock or the like. ...remember you always need to find ways to utilize your equipment in as many ways as possible
