SunbeamUSB Heating Pad for Back, Shoulder, Arm, and Leg Pain Relief with Power Bank Pocket and Auto Shut Off, 12.5 x 7.5, Grey

This is a fantastic little portable heating pad, with the usual reliability you'd expect from SunBeam. Some things to know:1. It does not come with a battery (per the description) and you can use it with any power bank, which I LOVE. I like the Anker brand power banks. A high quality power bank will make all the difference. Mine is the Anker PowerCore 10,000, and lasts for about 2-3 of the 2-hour cycles (so approx 4-6 hrs total from 10,000 milliamp-hours). Its slightly larger than a credit card and it fits nicely in the pocket.2. The heating area is smaller than I expected, about 7" wide and 6" tall. In my photos, the heating area is the "textured" part of the pad, and the smooth part (under the battery) does not heat at all. I was bummed about this; I really wanted a larger heating pad to cover my entire lower back and wrap around the sides. However, this is the best of what I've found on Amazon, so it'll have to do!3. The elastic "belt" is removable. Just FYI.4. The pad has an auto-off feature after a 2 hour period. This is a safety feature that nearly all modern heating pads have. To get it to turn back on, I have to unplug my power bank, plug it back in, and press the power button. Like I said, I can get about 2-3 of the 2-hr heating cycles out of my 10,000mAmp power bank.5. In my experience, this heating pad gets HOT on the high setting. The heat is comparable to a heating pad you'd plug in. I assume this depends somewhat on the power bank you use. I believe they have minimum specs for the power bank in the product description, and I assume this is why - an insufficiently-powered or old/ worn-out power bank will make the pad cooler or maybe it just won't last as long?I'm definitely keeping this heating pad for my lower back pain, and I'll travel with it as well since it's tiny. (Side note, I think you have to pack power banks in your carry-on luggage, just FYI). Hope this review helps someone else out there! Cheers!

In order to get out of bed in the morning, I have been using stick-on heat pads while I sleep. I have severe arthritis at the base of my spine and without heat during the night, not only can I barely get out of bed, but once up, can bare walk without severe pain for the first hour. The heat during the night has been a miracle for me. However, the cost, not to mention the landfill waste, of disposable, stick-on heat pads has been bothering me. I decided to look for a battery powered, reusable heat pad. When I found this item, I thought that technology had answered my problem.When the heat pad arrived, I gave a cursory look at the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. Yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah. I charged the cute little battery pack I had also ordered, plugged it in and felt heat. The strap across my abdomen required some getting used to, because it slipped around and missed my lower back when I got into bed. But I was able to adjust it.There was one confusing occurrence. Whenever I would wake up during the night for a bathroom stop (I’m old), the heat pad had turned off and was cold. I would turn it back on, but getting up in the morning, the heat pad was again cold. Initially, I thought it was the power pack I had ordered, that it had drained of power during the night and turned it off. I used a larger power pack that I had already owned and had the same problem. Maybe I needed a stronger power pack since the one I have is 4 years old. So, I ordered a pack of 2 battery packs. Still had the same problem and when I recharged the power packs, I realized the pack still had 50% of power left. What gives?I decided to take a closer look at the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS and that’s where I found out that this battery-operated heat pad did not work for my needs. Had I known the following information, I would not have purchased this item. On the 3rd fold out page of this brochure were the words “Auto-Off Feature.” The section went on to explain “The Auto-Off feature is designed for convenience and to conserve energy by automatically turning off after 2 hours of continuous use.” This auto-off “feature” was the reason I ordered more battery packs and was confused by I had such pain in the morning after wearing it.I then decided to look more carefully at the rest of the SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. Several of the 23 itemized issues (TWENTY-THREE) of them stood out for me:2. DO NOT USE WHILE SLEEPING OR ON SOMEONE WHO IS SLEEPING… Well, that rules out my basic reason for purchase.11. DO NOT WRAP PAD AROUND OR NEAR THE NECK TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY. There are times I need heat on my neck because of strained muscles.12. DO NOT SIT AGAINST OR CRUSH PAD… How are you supposed to use it against your lower back? Only while standing? Doesn’t make sense for those of us with lower back problems.17. DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING OVER THE HEATING PAD WHILE IN USE OR PLUGGED IN, SUCH AS A TOWEL, BLANKET, CLOTHING What? I’m supposed to stuff this pad inside my underwear and night or day clothes? I guess one is supposed to walk around naked with this thing on because you can’t sit (or lie) against it.After using it for a week, purchasing 3 battery packs, I have decided the heat pad does not meet my needs. I am sending it back. I hope this rather long review helps others who might want to purchase it for the same reason as I.

I'm disabled and spend a lot of time in my lift chair, which has a USB port on the controller. I wanted a small heating pad for my elderly cat to lay on while she's on my lap (which is most of the time), and power plugs are limited in my old house so I really needed one with a USB that kitty would like. I looked at a lot of heated pads for both pets and humans, but the one that best fit these needs was this one. The others either needed a regular power plug, or didn't say what kind of plug, or seemed cheap and flimsy.This heating pad is perfect! It puts out a good bit of heat and is adjustable. The heating area of the pad is small, but that's okay by kitty (might be a different story if I had two pets to keep happy.) The cord is short, but that's not an issue in the chair plus they do include an optional USB extension cord for greater flexibility. The quality is very good, "name brand" quality that's not flimsy.For my needs, this pad is ideal - so much so I'm thinking of buying a second one as a spare just in case Sunbeam ever discontinues this item.

For a USB powered heating pad this thing gets HOT!! in a good way. Only issue is the USB cord to power it is to short to put a battery pack in the little built in pocket.
