Great piece of work
It was very interesting and thought provoking. It speaks to issues we (African/Afro Americans) are currently facing. There is progression and the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger, but we need literature like this and more to keep promoting that it's okay to be who you want to be in society today.

A Collection that Celebrates Blackness
This collection was a very quick read containing poems of affirmation and self-love for the empowerment of black people. The poems are split into sections with titles including 'religion', 'relationships' and 'black'. Each section is accompanied by a beautiful piece of art elevating blackness. The use of Akan words at the start of the collection highlight the poet's strong connection to his Ghanaian roots, which as a fellow Ghanaian was lovely to see.My reading tastes generally veer towards the dark and the macabre so the largely uplifting content of this collection didn't provide me with the gut punch I usually look for in the poetry I read however, I think this is an important work as we don't see enough in literature of black people being celebrated in this way.

Worth every second of your time.
5 stars for impact. Of course this is just my personal opinion, and it's 3am, and I'm high. I'm glad I somehow stumbled across this while scrolling Twitter. I think Thomas Ayim should give himself a big high five. Will be adding his name to my list of authors to follow.

Specific in title, universal in appeal
This is a lyrical, gently-flowing book of verse. While rooted in Ghanaian culture, it is accessible to readers regardless of national origin or race. It was a very enjoyable read!
