A Godsend for a Food Motivated Golden Retriever
So, I have two golden retrievers. As with most (okay all) Goldens, they love food. I know what you're thinking. All dogs love food. But Goldens truly are treat obsessed to the point I can teach them to bring the trash down to the curb on Tuesdays and Fridays for pickup and remind me to pay my quarterly estimated taxes -- for the right treat, of course. This all sounds great, or dare I say golden (see what I did there?), until you discover that 50% of your dynamic duo is overweight. I put the larger than life Golden on a much-needed diet. This meant new calorie reduced food (no problem, he'll eat anything) and absolutely no snacking (vets orders, not mine). The no snacking rule was tough to stomach, or not as the case may be.Unfortunately, his brother who obviously has the metabolism of Flash did not need to be put on the same diet, so he continued to enjoy treats as reward for everything like intently guarding the front window to ward off that one squirrel who helped himself to peanuts from the bird feeder that one time (clearly fallen peanuts belong to the house). Our overweight Golden watched on the sidelines as his brother received rewards while he got butt scritches (not a bad consolation prize, but not food either). So, in an attempt to allow all Goldens to receive the treats they deserve (demand) I hopped onto Amazon to find low-calorie options and -- voila -- Crunchin' Bones. These air puffed treats are a hit in our house (remember though Goldens will eat ANYTHING as long as they're eating). They are now the exclusive treat fed to both dogs. The bones aren't exactly bone shaped but who cares? (My husband calls these Crunchin' Boners so I'll let you decide their shape on your own). They're light and crunchy and diet-friendly, coming in at less than 2 calories per treat -- which isn't that what we're all searching for in life, canine and human alike? So, these are highly recommended. My dogs love them (again Goldens love all food) and my vet gives them her stamp of approval. That's a win-win in my book. Plus, I get the giggles from time to time when a particularly saucy treat reminds me of being at a bachelorette party in Vegas. (Win-win-win?).

My 2 Pooches love them!
We’ve tried these before from our veterinarian’s office. They have trouble keeping them in stock so thought I’d check on my great friend…Amazon. I’d like to find them with all yellow..or chicken flavor because the reddish ones have lamb in them. My Scotties have elevated liver enzymes so need to avoid lamb. These seem to be OK for them since it’s not a lot of lamb & mixed with other ingredients. We break them in half which means they get more!😉 Anyhow, they’re easy on their waistline too. : )

Recommended by our vet
Our vet recommended these for our disobedient pup, to use as rewards for good behavior. They’re low calorie. Kind of like how humans snack on popcorn, is what our vet said. Our pup loves them!Keep the container tightly shut because they do get stale. And puppy is starting to understand that good behavior earns rewards.

I haven't Tasted or Smelled but . .
Our vet had some of these and our puppy loved them, so I ordered some on Amazon and the dog gives them two paws up. These are her favorite treats.
