John Wesley's Class Meeting: A Model for Making Disciples

I found this to be a very intriguing book to read. For those of us who are striving to become what Westley invisioned us to be, this book is the one you need to read. I do think that a great number will not want to be in a class meeting setting where you have to tell exactly what God is doing in your life and how you need to respond to that calling that you need to change. I am going to bring this up at my church and see if there is any one who wants to go on this journey.

This book is a fascinating study on the methods of John Wesley in discipleship. I went through this with my discipleship group and we all felt it was a helpful resource to understand what made the discipleship methods of John Wesley so successful. One other thing I really liked about the book was that it never dragged on or got boring. The author kept it engaging and interesting to read. I give it 4 stars because there were some spelling errors and other editing concerns that distracted from the book itself.

My one star deduction concerns the Kindle version of Henderson's work. Spelling and grammar errors populate nearly every page, and one chart was superimposed over an entire page of text. Henderson's analysis ably dissects and helpfully reassembles Wesley's generating his unique tools and approaches for Christian discipleship.

I purchased this book largely based on the product description that mentioned the author discussing how to take Wesley's method and apply it today. I was disappointed that the author did not develop this side of the work at any depth. This is a significant drawback of this otherwise useful book.On the positive side, I am new to Methodism and Wesley's ministry, so I found this very enlightening as a historical read about the how and why Wesley's method had the massive impact it did. I recommend it at that level, and if you would like to draw your own applications on how to apply this method. Last of all,I felt this work read more like a thesis than a guide to applying the concepts as the writing style is very formal.

I have been wanting a book like this for years.I have long wondered what the "method" was that worked so well for so many years...and now I know.I am grateful that this has been published.

Great intro resource to Wesley's methodology! As an educator my interests were especially piqued by his realistic understanding of human nature coupled with his optimistic view toward spiritual growth.

The book was laid out well and cohesive. I was distracted by numerous typos and grammatical errors in this e-version of the book. It needs a fresh set of eyes by the editors.
