I called customer service and he was very nice, but said Amazon was new to them and ...
I give this three stars not because it did not work--it did work EVENTUALLY to make the call I needed to make to Japan from California. EVENTUALLY being the key word. I got it and got an email asking me my phone number. I gave it. Shortly after I got a text with instructions. Confusing. It sent me a link to download the app which when I went to it it took me to some rapper's app or website or something. It was actually kind of hilarious. His CD was called Hello Earth or something similar to the name of this company. So the employee who was in charge of creating the link linked it to this random rapper's website instead of their website. So that didn't work. I ended up just searching for it on the app store and found it. Downloaded it. You open the app and it says to enter your one time pass-code. I never got this. I called customer service and he was very nice, but said Amazon was new to them and he would forward my question onto someone who "knew more about the Amazon part of their business". He told me she would call me back within the hour. She still to this day never called me. But after requesting this mysterious passcode about 100 times I finally got it 2 hours or so later. I entered it and it said I was "already registered". Say whaaaaa...?! I was so frustrated. I went to the original email they sent me and randomly found a section in the email with a phone number to dial if you were calling from a landline. I don't have a landline, but figured at that point I had nothing to loose and would try it using my cell phone. I called the number and a voice told me to enter the phone number I wanted to call. I entered in the Japanese international number. The voice told me how many minutes I had (which was WAY more than I thought I had according to the country/minutes guidelines posted on their website so that was nice!). And FINALLY and MIRACULOUSLY the call went through and I was able to make the call I needed to. I have now called Japan from California 4 times and every time I use the landline number and have NEVER dealt with the app. So my question is why make your customers go crazy with the app if all they have to do is call the landline number before dialing out??My simplified review:Don't bother with the app!! Or the links they email you. Unless you 1.) want to go crazy and 2.) enjoy rap music (LOL). Use the number they say is to be used for a landline and dial out that way.

Great while it lasted and then one day POOF, they're gone!
I was a Hello Earth customer for many years and never had any issues with them. I was on an automatic refill plan, and one day my husband told me the card amount was down to $2. It was never supposed to go that low without refilling so I attempted to go to my account on their website, and like I said, POOF, they're gone! They apparently went out of business and didn't bother to tell their customers. The $2 I have left in the account is still allowing me to make calls, but as soon as that runs out I'll have to start using a calling card I bought from another company. Very strange ending to a customer relationship!
