Looks like I'm the only one to review this product so far who wasn't given one free or reduced value from the company
If it were within my power to give this negative stars I would. The day I received it I tried contacting customer service. I called a half hour before they closed. I was on hold for 10 minutes then got cut off. I called back and was on hold for 10 minutes when I again got cut off. Being a glutton for punishment that I am I called back once more. Guess what! I got cut off again after 10 minutes on hold. At this point it was 4:01 PM Pacific standard time. I called back again and received a message that the office was closed. But that's not the best part of this POS. I bought this so I can track my son within my neighborhood. This thing usually narrows down his whereabouts to approximately a 1 mile radius. Thank you Vasco De Gama!! If I'm tracking someone's location within a state, a 1 mile radius maybe acceptable. However I find the accuracy of this to be very poor and unacceptable.I previously had a GPS device made by Trackimo. I tried to save $30 and buy this POS. The joke is on me because this is nothing more than a paperweight. I will be buying another Trackimo brand GPS locator device tomorrow.

SO easy to use and you don't need to pay for a service!
I think this is a must have for any teenage children or even to stick in an important bag like a purse or computer bag in case it gets stolen (my purse was stolen on my 21st birthday and this would have made life a whole lot easier if I had one!).The box comes with the small GPS tracking unit which measures about 1 3/4” x 1 3/4” square, a charging USB to micro USB cord, and instructions. The box is attractive and branded and would make a nice gift. Upon opening I read the easy to follow instruction on how to charge (comes with about 10% charge on the unit but needs a full hour to charge before using it) and get started with downloading the software/app and registering the unit. The registration took me a short time but I ran into issues with my phone number not registering on the app (it kept saying “enter a mobile number” which I was doing) so I ended up having to register on the website instead of through the app.Once I registered online and charged up the device I sent my son outside of our warehouse to walk around the block for a little bit and it showed him in pretty random areas that he wasn't actually in- so the accuracy isn't “pin point” accurate, but if you are looking for a “general vicinity” location this is great. I did see that there are some tips on helping get the accuracy a little closer to accurate which include keeping it upright and away from metal objects. I will also continue to charge it to 100% to see if that helps with the accuracy a little more. This is great for giving to your child so that you can see where they are. I was looking for an item like this for when my son goes to field trips in summer camp so I can better track where they are. He is 8 years old and their trips are rather far. Knowing where they are will also help me judge what time to be at pick up, as they are typically stuck in traffic and run late. The size is good, it fits in the palm of your hand and is easy to conceal in child's backpack or even in their pocket if they aren't carrying a backpack. While not perfect, definitely helpful to have and use!I have included a few of my own product photos for you to see rather than relying on “stock” photos in the listing. *I received a sample of this item at a discount in return for an honest and unbiased review*

Vectu is designed for families and caregivers looking for an effective and affordable way to stay connected with their loved one
Several years ago, when my grandfather was still alive, my family made a visit to my grandparents’ condo for lunch. When I arrived, I found that there was a sizable dent in the garage door. I immediately asked my grandmother what happened. She tried very hard not to make a big deal out of it, but she let us know that my grandfather decided one night that he wanted to go for a drive and backed right into the garage door. It was that moment that I realized that there was something going on with him. As it turns out, he had Alzheimer’s Disease. I didn’t find this out until he had passed away and it was made very clear how much my grandmother had been doing for him to keep him going. The garage incident was something that hit hard for me and it really made me wonder what would have happened if the garage door hadn’t been closed. What if he had gotten out into the world and forgotten how to get home? The Vectu Personal Emergency GPS Locator is the answer for this problem.Vectu is designed for families and caregivers looking for an effective and affordable way to stay connected with their loved ones. Unfortunately, this model of locator doesn’t allow you to remotely locate your loved ones unless it’s activated by a push of the button on the device itself. Once the alert is issued, the Personal Emergency GPS Locator will enter a ‘tracking mode’ and transmit a location update every 60 seconds until the battery drains. When an alert is sent out, the notification goes to the app, your email, and your text message service. It’s almost instantaneous when its activated. Vectu Personal Emergency GPS Locator designed to work anywhere in the world where GSM reception exists. Some of the features include:Real-time time positioning upon help alertLightweight – only 23gInstant SMS/Email/Push notificationsMultiple users – share Vectu with other myAspenta app usersUp to 4 phone numbers and email addresses can receive notificationsView multiple devices on a single map90-days location reportsThe set-up for the device is easy, but I ran into a couple of issues when I was testing it out. First, make sure the device is charged before adding it to the app. Some devices you can turn on and start up right out of the box, but not this one. Flip the switch to the ‘on’ position, plug it in and let it charge up. While it’s charging, download the app and sign up for your myAspenta account. The first year of service is included with the purchase of the product, but is $24 per year after that. Once you’re connected the device to your account and app, you are ready to start using it. Now, this is where I got a little hung up with this device. To activate the alert, you can’t just simply tap the button. You have to press and hold it in and wait for the status light to blink 5 times. This verifies that an alert was sent. Now maybe it was set up this way so that an errant tap from inside a pocket wouldn’t set off the alert, but to me, I’d rather have it be a little easier to operate and less steps for the user to remember.Aspenta’s customer service was very responsive. As I mentioned, I had some issues with set-up. I contacted their customer service personnel and received a response within about 24 hours. They sent me step-by-step instructions to reset the device and I haven’t had any problems with it since. The app is really easy to use, too. Once it’s set-up, it’s very low-maintenance. You simply tap on the locator device you want to review, and it pulls up the last seen location, date, and time. It will also show the battery level at the last time it registered. All in all, the Vectu Personal Emergency GPS Locator is a pretty cool device. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I really like the concept. It’s great for family members that have lost their way and need help finding home again."This product was received at a free or discounted price in exchange for my review.
