Rain (Rise and Shine)

I used this book when we were learning about the 5 senses. The descriptions of the rain in contrast to the hot dry settings are wonderful. I covers all of the senses, see, smell, taste, touch, and hear.

I bought this book for my kindergarten unit on weather. When I finished reading, the children in unison said, "Read it again!" The colors are vivid and it is a great book. Highly recommend...

My 4 year old boy really enjoyed this book

This book is fun to read. Great descriptive words. The energy of the book builds as the rain comes. It is interesting also, and the kids learn something about how important the rain is to all creatures.

Rare is the transcendent picture book. This is one of them. Read it using different voices for the animals and twelve toddlers in daycare will be enthralled. The pictures in the hardcover version are large enough to be seen by all. Go over the five senses with a preschooler. Work through the spare text with an emergent reader. Explain cycles of rain and drought and Africa and the savannah for a science twist. Explore and enjoy the art, it is a visual feast.

I was searching for some mentor texts to use in my first grade classroom for writing workshop and this book is amazing! The text has a great pattern, the words are different sizes for emphasis, the word choice is wonderful, and there's a lot of fun punctuation. I will use this at the beginning of the year as we learn to "read like writers" and notice all of the fun techniques that Manya Stojic uses in her writing.

This book was to be gifted. One corner was bent and a small slice (cut) was on the back cover. Dissappointed in the condition of the book but love the story to share with kids.

This a lovely book for preschool aged children, simple text and nice illustrations, not too long and certainly gained the attention of the group of children that I read it to.

Ok book, not up to the rave reviews I'd seen for it, pictures a bit arty for young ones maybe as they get older they'll show some interest

サバンナに住む動物達の元に雨が降ってくる、と言うことをそれを感じ取った動物達が次々に教えてくれると言う内容なのですが絵が独特でとても可愛いです。雨の匂いがするよ、とか雷が見えたよ、とか雨が体に触れて濡れたよなどの五感にうったえる英文も小さなお子様には割りと理解しやすいかも。

暑く乾燥しきった大地に雨の予感が〜雷そして雨！！雨に喜ぶ動物達の表情や動きが大きい文字と絵で、リズミカルに表現されてます。文も簡単なので、子どもさんへの読み聞かせもしやすいです。日本語版もありますから、英語版と読み比べてみるのも楽しいと思いますよ。
