Our dog loves this bed, it's a good value
There are a lot of helpful reviews on here which helped us purchase this bed. We felt it was a great value for fifty some bucks, considering how much dog beds can be and that similarly priced beds aren't half as nice as this one. We purchased the large. The bolsters are super easy to remove, they're self-contained in their own lining. The stuffing in the main part of the bed is loose, so either you need to pull it all out or just wash it. Initially I was pulling it all out, but this past time I just decided to leave it in and wash it (was getting stinky) and it seems fine. It was less volume than washing pillows (bolsters removed). It's true about the zipper in the lower back, the seams at the ends rip easily and also the zipper head itself just comes right off. Luckily I have the patience to feed it back on every time, it will stay in place zipped up, it just falls off when it's in the unzipped position. Our dog is a chewer and has put a couple holes in the bed but it's still holding up. Since there's no liner for the stuffing in the main part of the bed, eventually this would wear for any chewer or heavy nester with nails and that's when they'd start pulling the stuffing through. The outside edges feel like suede and the inner portion like a plush stuffed animal; the fabric is not very thick/sturdy but it feels very nice.Fit-wise, our pup isn't very tall but his body is long and thick, he's about 60 lbs (amstaff/weim). He likes to curl up as well as stretch out and puts his head on the bolster like a pillow most of the time. I'd say the bolsters are one of the biggest selling features and what our dog enjoys most about this bed.If you're planning on putting more support in the bottom for an older dog, just know that there are a couple places (like button areas on a seat cushion) where the top is sewn to the bottom. It does help keep the loose stuffing distributed vs bunching up all on one side but for extra stuffing this means you can't just put in a large flat square in the bottom, you'll have to maneuver pieces around the sewn parts.Even with the cons, I'd really recommend this bed. Just remember to take your time with the zipper in the back, and try not to unzip it all the way to the end (if it comes off you can just feed the zipper material back through each side, with some patience. If you decide to pull the stuffing out when washing the cover, be aware of not putting any stress on the end seams of the opening when you're reaching in or pulling stuffing out/putting it back, and you'll keep it intact. Don't pull the stuffing out/put it back when in a hurry!UPDATE: 09-08-2013: Our pup has turned into quite a nester, and the bed is still holding up great to his clawing/nesting, as well as to washing every 2-3 weeks.

Great at first; be sure to follow all the directions before washing!
This "couch bed" was a dream for my JRT, until 1) I had to wash it and 2) he kept getting "stuck" on it due to his weak leg/arthritis.Overall, the bed is decent. Seamus (my 15 y/o Jack) loved it at first. He prefers beds with bolsters, and this was a good price. The first bed was purchased in 2013. It was washed and dried several times, with no issue, but eventually needed to be replaced, so I bought the same one in 2016.My huge issue with this bed is the zipper over the bolster and the polyfill in the bottom. First time we took the cover off to wash, the zipper separated...we could never fix it properly, so I ended up safety pinning it closed. NBD.However, the polyfill was a nightmare. I washed it with the cover (which is okay to do), but it bunched up and wouldn't fluff up properly. Seamus stopped using it, I'm assuming it was uncomfortable. Never could get the polyfill even, so I bought a bag of it to help "refluff" the bed. After that, it was useable, but then Seamus would get stuck on his side. His bad leg wasn't strong enough to help him up....he's a side sleeper....and we decided to get a bed with a much firmer bottom (to prevent him from "sinking" into his bed and getting stuck again). As I like this brand of dog beds, I went to their website to see what else they offered. Came across the listing for this bed and found "Care & Instructions"...where it said to "toss something in the dryer" to help fluff up the filling. Wish I would have seen that earlier! Likely would have prevented all the issues. I wonder if K&H changed their bed filling from the 2013 bed I bought. It's still a good bed; my Seamus loved it for three years until we got a newer one and washed it.

Happy with this bed
My dog seems to really like this bed, but he doesn't LOVE it. He still chooses to sleep in my bed about 5 nights out of 7, but every now and then, he'll choose this bed instead. During the day, since it's next to my desk, he sleeps in it more and seems to go about 50/50 between it and the couch or my bed. He's a nester, so he curls up small, even though he's a big, brawny 75 pound pit bull. This bed is plenty big for him AND a king-sized human pillow that he loves to sleep with. If he liked to really stretch out, this bed would not be big enough, but he curls up 80% of the time, so it suits him just fine. It's a little softer than I thought it would be, so to add some stability to the bolstered sides, I put a 2-inch thick piece of egg crate foam underneath the sleeping part, and I had an old king-sized duvet that I just sort of rolled up and I put that butting up to and just under the bed on 3 sides - it's against a wall, so there are only 3 exposed sides. The rolled-up duvet helps to "bolster" the bolsters. He's a heavy dog, so he needs the extra support. Would have given it a 5 if the bolstered sides were firmer and the sleeping surface a little thicker.TIP: Instead of disassembling the bed to wash the cover - just buy a crib-size sheet or two, they have them in cozy flannels - and then just cover the bed with the sheet. This way you just strip off the dirty sheet and replace with the extra one and it takes about 10 seconds or less.

It didn't take long for our large Corgi to claim this soft and comfy bed as his own - which it is! He sleeps in a stretched out position but this bed fits his long body well and provides a convenient place on which to prop his chin. I have vacuumed the bed but have not yet washed it. The instructions from the company (K&H) and from another owner who wrote a review make ti seem quite an easy process. I would recommend this bed for any dog old enough not to chew it and that needs a little extra TLC..

Good bed
My dog loves her new bed. She is a greyhound cross, so a tall dog. Larger inside pad removes for easy washing.
