The Beatles Swan Song: She Loves You & Other Records Hardcover – March 17, 2007

The only problem with this compared to the other Spizer books is that the topic is so limited. You will find accurate, useful information about Swan, United Artists and other labels Beatles output, but with less historic urgency than with the Vee Jay and Capitol books.

While not a book for casual readers wanting to learn about the Beatles, this is an indispensable, necessary reference book for anyone interested in the details of the vinyl record output of the Fab Four.If you are familiar with the author's earlier efforts, you know that you need this one too.If you want to learn about their original releases on Capitol, Apple, Vee-Jay, buy his earlier books. This one covers Swan, MGM, Polydor, Decca, United Artists, post-Apple Capitol Records and a hodge podge of others.My only disappointment is that he isn't going to give the Spizer Treatment to all of the non-Beatle artists recordings released on vinyl on Apple Records. But his Herculean efforts so far are quite an accomplishment for any mortal. To track down details on those other, sometimes very obscure artists, may be too much to ask of one man.....

Everything you needed to know about the early Beatles releases! Very thorough.

I have all of Bruce Spizer's Beatle related books and this final instalment matches all of the others for sheer detail and quality. It's a mind boggling journey through all of the Beatles "other label" US releases and certainly an education for collectors and fans alike. I especially like the "Capitol in The 70's & 80's" chapter covering the various compilation Lp's issued such as "Hollywood Bowl", "Rock & Roll Music" "Reel Music" & "Love Songs"..this completes a "Capitol" loose end.It's a typically thorough book and sits proudly alongside the other Spizer instalments and the 50+ other Beatles tomes on my bookshelf. Well done Bruce. Very recommended to Beatles fans and Collectors alike.

Big fan of all of Bruce Spizer's books. I love the details written about variations with the Beatles catalog. I would like to see him write a book about the cd catalog next even though I know that there are not that many different versions.

Excellent historical details of the Beatles coming to America through the music and records ( discs). The Swan label which brought "She Loves You" to the American public is wonderfully layed out and described. The discography and docementation is the alpha and omega for Beatle records and collectors.....bar none

The Top!!! No higher to go! What's great about this book is that Spizer brings in the other labels where as he could've just made a smaller book focusing on Swan.The info here is SO interesting to read,so deep inits scope,as to be baffling when one thinks of what he had to do to end up with such an all-encompassing book.

This is an impressive tome, much like Bruce Spizer's other books. It is printed in full colour on quality stock paper. It is around 280 pages. Mr Spizer has produced an extensive reference guide to not only Swan releases but also MGM and Atco Beatles releases of the Sixties. Capitol Beatles releases of the Seventies are also covered.Bruce goes into way much too detail on label variances and where a record was pressed etc for me, or the casual reader. I imagine if you are trying to track a record's history the book would be a godsend.Even if you are not interested in the label details, this book is wonderful. Filled will colour photos of albums, labels, and stories of the album's history. A beautiful, colourful and informative book.

Mr Spizer always has amazingly profuse and precisely researched information. His books usually seem to go out of print so get them when you can. Spizer and Lewishon are probably the 2 premiere Beatles writers of our age.
