The Macknyfe Muckraker is a specialized stripping tool for the experienced groomer. The Muckraker works well for thinning, blending and shaping wire coats. Great arm saver, time saver and coat saver when preparing wire-coated dogs for the show ring. The Macknyfe Muckraker shortens the overall area with less likelihood of creating holes in a show coat and helps roll the coat by creating multiple lengths during the stripping process. Two-point teeth strip a lot of coat quickly Fish tailed handle minimizes twisting and reduces blisters and sore spots Machined from tool steel and hardened for durability Aluminum alloy handles Made in USA

Macknyfe Muckraker - Fine (Red)
After spending hours and hours hand stripping my border terrier using the "proper" thumb and first finger method and only finishing his face and chest (and crying over the loss of my weekend!), I began researching stripping knives, remembering that my dog's breeder had used one. The salesperson at PetSmart suggested the Mars line of stripping knives, but after reading a bunch of product descriptions online, the Macknyfe Muckraker seemed like it would be a better tool for my needs.Since my border terrier is a pet and not a show dog, I don't feel the need to spend hours creating the perfect AKC-specified border terrier look. But I do need a way to quickly and efficiently remove lots of dead fur because I *don't* love the look of my border terrier when his coat's blown out (as they say--meaning that its shape is totally gone and all that remains is a frizzy, wavy mess) and so far the Muckraker is doing a great job. Since receiving the tool, I've spent about an hour total in two different "sessions" with the dog, doing his entire back in about 1/2 hour and one of his rear legs in about the same amount of time, whereas before I had the tool I might have spent two hours on his back alone. And granted, I am just learning how to hand strip, so I don't think my slowness is indicative of anything but my own learning curve.I can't speak to whether or not the Muckraker helps my dog's coat "roll," or grow out more evenly (which leads to less need for hand stripping), since the tool is very new to me, but that would certainly be a nice benefit if so.

Comment/Suggestion
I love the way this knife takes out the undercoat and maintains an already pulled coat. However, I would suggest some kind of grip on the handle whether it be grooved for fingers and roughed to get a better grip. Or maybe a rubber handle?

Received a left handed knyfe that has spent ages at a warehouse
The knyfe is for a lrft-handed person which is not mentioned in the product description. Protective cover is so old and deterriorated, can only be removed in small pieces
