This is an excellent assessment of two of Toni Morrison's most famous works ...
Aren't there two writers here? Yet only one of them is listed. This is an excellent assessment of two of Toni Morrison's most famous works which are sometimes a little difficult to understand. This CliffsNotes explains much. Thanks for this.

Excellent guide
I read Sula and I needed a little help with the symbolism used in the book and Cliff Notes have always been an excellent guide. The chapter's in "Sula" were seperated by years, and for each year there is a summary, commentary, and glossary for definitions of words and phrases. Also included is an introduction, character analyses, question, and essays for each book.I haven't read "The Bluest Eye" yet but I do plan to, and its really great that both of these books are covered in this guide. I highly recommend this guide to anyone who wants a better understanding of one or both of these books.

Pecola was one of my favorite characters for instance
I first read The Bluest Eye during August of last year before the start of school, I thought when I bought it I would have plenty of time to read it before seeing as I was a fast reader, but I ended up having more time than I thought I would because I devoured this book. The book starts off somewhat slow, but that doesn’t matter because the characters are so dynamic. Pecola was one of my favorite characters for instance, she had such a multi-faceted personality. I liked that I couldn’t figure her out in one paragraph. My life during the time I was reading this was good, albeit stressful. I was making many trips back and forth to Denver, to see my cousin whom was in the hospital there at that time. This book was a good escape from the rest of life and its worries, much like any good book. This book didn’t quite relate to what was currently going on in that time in my life, but some of the events that occurred in the book were relevant to past experiences. Any readers who plan to read this should know that it has some very ‘adult’ themes contained within it, which I was not aware of before reading. Not that I’m saying the ‘adult’ themes were unwarranted, just unexpected, but after reading the book I understood why they were included. Toni Morrison’s writing style is definitely different than what I’m used to reading, and at points I had trouble keeping up with what character I was supposed to be focusing on. I will definitely remember this book throughout my life, and will probably re-read it at some point. This isn’t a light hearted book that you forget after a month of reading, its a complex book about a young african girl in a racist world whose only want is beauty, and I will remember my own struggle to see myself as beautiful. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone I know who struggles with body image, insecurities, or anything along those lines. This book is great for people my age, especially girls, because many of us deal with the same wants for our image, but with many less challenges. This book will also help the reader develop empathy for Pecola and many other characters in the book and the events occur to them, and empathy is a virtue some teenagers tend to struggle with. -Savanna W.
