SenseDefense FiRes HP: Hearing Protection ear plugs — Noise Reduction Rating of 15 (1 pair)

I wore these during target practice and while qualifying for my conceal carry permit. I shot over 200 rounds using several different types of pistols and revolvers (from .22 cal, 9mm up to .45 cal). The sound of the shots were muted but I could hear everything the instructor said clearly, whether he was 3 feet away or 15 feet from me. The FiRes HP were comfortable and stayed in my ears until I removed them. I plan to buy these for birthday and Christmas presents for friends and family, for shooting, mowing the lawn, and mechanical noises. I also like that they were made in the USA and not China.

Full Disclosure - I work for this company in an entirely different division, but I don't believe I am unfairly biased.I am frequently around noisy environments in my spare time. While I like the idea of protecting my hearing, in practice the bulky over-the-ear designs and simple foam plugs leave a lot to be desired. I picked a few of these up when I knew they were going to be half off, and so far I am very pleased. Conversations come through both louder and more clearly, and so far I have not found any sound source that forced me to reach for my trusty over-the-ear cans. My neighbors must have thought I was going mad clacking 2×4s beside my ears repeatedly to see how well these performed. They work great!

I bought these a bit over a week ago and took them to the range with me. I thought they worked great. Once I had them in right, I could hear all the range commands way better than when I had muffs on, and had no discomfort from the firing. It was only a .38, but still loud enough. My husband also wore them to work, he was using a big impact wrench, and he said they also were great, he didn't have any problems talking with his workers and no pain from the impact wrench in the little room he was working in.

These work great. I shot over 200 rounds of pistol (.45 and 9mm) and the guy in the station next to me was shooting a .357 mag rifle. Better than my much more expensive headset protectors. I actually forgot I had them in during a few "range cold" times. Normal conversation is clearly audible almost down to a whisper. Bought a set for my daughter and another for my wife.

I think these ear plugs are great. A friend of mine picked some of these up at a conference he went to last year and let me try them. I'm really happy they're finally selling them and I could pick up a pair of my own. The insert that comes with these is clearly written for engineers and other professionals and incomprehensible to the normal person so let me give you an example how I use them: concerts and sports. I go to some really loud concerts/hockey games/outdoor activities. These cut the ambient noise from the amps and keep my ears from hurting but still let in the singer's voice. I can even talk to my friends standing next to me. Basically, they provide hearing protection without sacrificing my ability to hear the people around me. Pretty neat, imo, as other ear plugs just... plug your ears up so you can't hear anything at all. I'd imagine these would be good for other jobs like firefighters, etc, who need protection but need to hear the people they're working with. Oh, and you can change out the size of plugs if you need to (not included). The technology is in the blue ends. Totally worth the money.

These things are amazing. No, you can't hear like you're wearing no protection, but I can carry on a casual conversation and not miss anything.

I bought these to use when running gas-powered lawn tools. They are a lot smaller than the other hearing protection I was wearing and work well.

For a device with no active noise cancelling these work very good
