If your have old Kohler Niedecken repair it , easy , has real metal , not Chinese junk , , plenty of videos on line , took me 7 minutes to do this , works great , plumber wanted $595 , look around and cross reference handle , quoted $ 175 , kh 1228 works perfect cost $36

Worth the money!
After losing hot water gradually (months)in my shower, i tore it apart and inspected all the internals. Nothing stoodout as a problem except for normal looking wear. took parts to my local hardware store. He knew exactly what itwas but told me he has nothing for it. i found this replacement and purchased it. WOW! what a difference. i no longerhave the handle turned a full turn to get hot water. 1/2 at the most. i purchased this kit and the yoke kit. 30092.install was simple and about 1/2 hour. Highly recommended if you dont want to remodel your entire bathroom

Good Product
I have been having a more difficult time lately finding repair kits for the Kohler Niedecken. I rebuild the valve about every 2 to 3 years and the products fit well. If the products remain available I may never have to tear up the tile and replace the valve. The housing seems bullet proof.

Worked well, but needed better instructions for a homeowner.
I managed to make it work, after several tries. The instructions were not very good. Make sure that you review this valve online before you attempt to rebuild it. My main problem came in trying to install the over-generous packing, which squashed the valve sideways. I had to remove some of the packing (tedious job) and then it worked very smoothly and well.
