THIS BOOK IS GOLD.
Come on people. This book is amazing. David Giwerc is the man. I first learned who he was on the ADHD Support Talk Radio podcast. I was so excited to get this book. I’m an adult woman who was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 40. It took me a while to get through it only because I highlighted every other sentence. It is very well written. Giwerc not only understands all the mental and physical challenges of ADHD, he truly understands the emotional aspects of it. Plus, he highlights the strengths and unique gifts that this type of wiring has to offer the world. It’s really not that big of a deal if you’re willing to simply understand how you are wired. I've read several other books on ADHD and this is my #1. If you have ADHD or live with someone who has it, this book is full of gems. I continue to meet women who will talk openly about struggles with depression and/or anxiety, but will hide the ADHD part. For some, depression and/or anxiety may be the result of only one issue: ADHD. I have been told by medical professionals that you can’t actually have both an anxiety disorder and be clinically depressed. They are opposites. Usually, if you are struggling with both, they are symptoms of another issue. According to this book, there are about 260 million people in the world who struggle with ADHD. It is estimated that possibly 85% are undiagnosed. Before we can convince the world that ADHD isn’t a broken mind, we need to believe it ourselves.

He sounds more gifted than ADHD
It was an okay book. A lot of the case examples he used don't sound like ADHD though. They sound more like gifted kids who never learned to set boundaries and were overwhelmed. Valuable advice regardless, just not really that ADHD specific.

2 thumbs up!!
Definitely worth your time! It gives a lot of insight and explains in terms and descriptions that are easy to understand. I have recommended this book to several friends that that either have ADHD or someone close to them with ADHD. So helpful to finally be able to have a better understanding of the challenges that we’ve been going through.

Permission to Proceed helped me in ways I had no idea it would!
I read this book a couple years ago and am still using some the techniques that it taught me. As an adult with ADHD, I feel that it is very important to understand your condition and find ways to conquer them.If you or a loved on has ADD/ADHD, do yourself a favor and buy this book

Disappointed
I am an adult with ADHD. I was really hopeful about this book, but greatly disappointed. I could not relate to his examples, he writes too much about himself and his experiences. As a coach, he seems to forget that the people reading this book are looking for helpful techniques, don't include too much information that most ADHD people already know or that feeds into their deficits. I personally don't want to read about other people, EDIT, just give me the "if you struggle with this... Try this." There is a lot of good information in this book, but it seems that a family member or partner of someone with ADHD would find it more useful. I will follow his advice and sift through the book to find what interest me or will be helpful. It's just too bad that someone who understands ADHD would publish a book in the same style that frustrates ADHD people... Ironic.

Essential Reading
Like another reviewer, I too heard a recording of the author speaking at a conference on ADHD. He had a warm, enthusiastic and inspiring voice and when he mentioned this book I ordered it for my Kindle. Wow, I'm so glad I did! My brain is literally tingling with the feeling of possibility. I had to stop reading for a moment and write this review. What makes the writing even more powerful is that David Giwerc is himself an ADHD wired person so I get the feeling of a shared experience. Really really great stuff! Thank you David!

A brilliantly written map to an ADHD journey
Being married to and having 2 amazing ADD “bunnies” this book really speaks to me. I may not have ADD, but I know more about it than they do now and this book really helps focus the “ And how do we make things better?” part of day to day living. The concepts are written plainly and without judgement which is a rare find. There are many points from the book that have created really meaningful conversations between us. Like anything else this book will not solve “ the problem” but it’s a very mindful guide to either your ADD journey or supporting the ones you love through theirs.
