I let the 23 watt bulb sink in my 500 gallon pond while I was on a 2 week vacation. I removed the fishes and moved inhouse for a different reason, but let this run in the pond (the bulb was enclosed in a 5 gallon bucket with a pump pulling water from the pond and pushing water out to the pond) to see how it worked in Houston weather. Water can turn green in two days time in Houston. After returning, the pond floor had quite a bit of algae growth on the pond floor (remember the UV light is housed in a 5 gallon bucket). So obviously there were algae growth on pond floor. However if you grabbed a glass of water from the pond, it was crystal clear. So I am guessing any and all floating algae got killed. Moreover the algae on the floor were kind of weak and easy to brush off. So I give it 5 stars. Price could be bit cheaper based on the components that are used to make this bulb.

I set up this light in an outdoor artificial pond (about 200 gals) where the water was murky green. I thought the light was helping, but after 3 days, the light just stopped working. Nothing I could do would generate even a flicker out of the bulb. I suspect the electronic package is the problem, cause the bulb looks intact and didn't appear to have any leaks. Returning it for a refund, because there are too many bad reviews. Don't waste your time/money on this one.

This does work, however it is so fragile to put in a high flowing filter like mine that it just died way too fast.Bought a new in line one and that is fantastic!

Works good!! I have a 2,000 gallon (est) outdoor pond that turns solid green from sun. I ran this for about 2 days and pond was crystal clear. I only ran it in the daytime and made sure it wasn’t going to rain. I also have 3 fish and countless frogs, nothing died!

The water of our 55 gallon tank was full of dust algae and a pea green color. Our fish were not visible unless they swam right up to the glass. We placed the light in the hang-on-back filter for the tank. I started out with 3 hours per night for the first week. It cleared it ever so slightly. I then reset the light to come on for 6 hours every evening and within a week all the algae was gone and we can once again see our fish. This item worked as promised and I couldn't be happier.

I put this in my outdoor pond inside the filter because there is no housing on it. I would have rather have had it go on when you plug it in and if you want it off, you unplug it. But this comes with a controller so I have to wrap it in plastic so that it does not get wet.

This product is fantastic for an algae bloom. My shared apartment fish tank had an algae bloom after a water change and turned into a green mess. The first photo is immediately after adding the UV light (Thursday) and the second image is three days later (Sunday). I set it on the 12 hour/a day cycle for those three days and since then I either leave it off or set it on a 3 hour/a day cycle. The timer feature on this product is super helpful and makes it really easy to use. Since there is no cover on the light make sure you don’t put it where your fish may see it. This kind of UV bulb is bad for their eyes and disorienting.
