The Collected Arthur Rackham Artworks

Great book! The only drawback is that it is difficult to fit all his work in the book; many pages are four artworks a page. But the quality of the prints is excellent. The image quality is better than any other book I have seen of his work, and this collection is huge. This is an excellent choice if you love his art like I do.

I only recently learned about Arthur Rackham, and that he illustrated many of the vintage books that I loved as a child. I was in search of a compilation of Rackham’s color artworks, and came across this book, which appears to be the only one of its kind. It’s exactly what I wanted, an invaluable resource. Almost all of the pages contain four images (there are a few full-page plates). So it is intended, I think, as an enjoyable reference for his work. The organization (book-by-book) is very well done, and helps me isolate which paintings are my favorites, so I can seek out larger prints, or the individual books, for instance. I think the printing is great, especially for a print-on-demand title (on the last page of the book, my copy indicates it was printed on the day that I placed the order). I was surprised to see that it was print-on-demand, as I would have expected the book to cost more, especially for the quality of the paper and ink. (I’m an attorney and a professor, and have bought many odd niche print-on-demand academic books in the past, so I’m familiar with what are normally astounding costs.) A few pages are a little blurry, but not to the point of undermining the experience of the book. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wishes to enjoy a comprehensive overview of Rackham’s color pieces, as it is not only an excellent coffee table book, but also perfect starting point for Rackham’s work.

No other publication has the amount of Rackham drawings as this one !

This book has so many of Rackham's illustrations, possibly all of them, but they are quite small. The pictures are very clear.

One of the books you wouldn’t mind being a part of.

The book makes great emphasis on being "comprehensive" and having a "huge" collection of images. But most of those images are too small to be of any value as inspiration and enjoyment. They would have been better off curating which images to include and making them larger.

I like having a collection of the artist’s work, but as others have stated, the images are really too small to truly appreciate. The book is inspirational but lacks tge insight that larger images would provide.

I love Arthur Rackham and this book shows 695 images of his art from fairytale books e.t.c. Some are full page (a few) but the majority are quite small but not so small that we can’t see what’s in them. Some might complain quality is not crisp enough but it’s fine for me. Usually about 4 pictures per page. This is the first book I’ve come across that is so comprehensive. They are all so beautiful and mystical. I have just ordered another book as a gift for someone who is also a fan.

At a very reasonable price, a great many illustrations crammed into this book, satisfy a basic craving for immersion in Rackham’s world.
