We used this for a "Zoombot" portable Zoom station during the pandemic. It does have a good zoom range, sets up easily, and is very compact. But, the manual focus doesn't seem to accommodate the full range of zoom; at the farthest zoom, it won't focus well on objects 15-20 feet away. I practiced but wasn't able to smoothly zoom-and-focus at the same time. So, this is probably best when it can be set and left for the shot.I didn't do any kind of image quality comparison; it was definitely better than the built-in laptop camera.The build quality is fine. Not spectacular, but it doesn't feel cheap. The zoom and focus handles unscrew and fall out easily. They also tighten to lock the adjustment... which leads me to believe that the set-and-forget use is what was intended, anyway.

I bought this to record readings on devices during a research test. It had good zoom and met the need. It was very tricky to focus properly as the focus ring was super sensitive to small motions. A finer thread is needed. The resolution is likely not what is advertised as there is no compression and the files were not large enough to support 8Mpixel

Great image quality, perfect focal length for my desk. I wish it had a bit more depth of field but it is hard to do that with such a tiny sensor. The 1/4" screw mounting on top and bottom is pretty convenient.

The camera is very well made, and the image is sharp.Customer support is very good, but the instructions in the small user manual are not up to date.The recommended software is AmCap https://amcap.en.softonic.com/AmCap detected the camera, but the screen was black.I finally realized the problem was the renderer.Go to Capture > Setup > Preview > RendererThe "recommended" renderer is Renderer9 (default)....it may work, but if not,select "Video Renderer" or "Enhanced Video Renderer".
