Brilliant
Great read. It's more of a madman's journal. He dosent stay on topic, jumps around and a few pages later he finishes what he started out saying. It was hard to read at first. But thinking about it now. This man has not had a decent conversation in 30 something years. And now he finally is able to use his voice. It's amazing to see how he puts his mind and thoughts to paper. I find it odd that his way of thinking matches mine perfectly on some topics. Is he mad? Or are we all mad?Did anyone notice how he remembers every person he met, where they met, and the exact year? You never see just a first name, its always the full name. I find that very interesting about Charlie.

my name is charlie bronson!
this is such an interesting read frm start to finish i must say. we get to dive into the mind of one of the worlds most interresting and memorable prison inmates, charlie bronson aka the king of roofs. in this book you get to see the torture charlie endured in prison, also his many hostage takings, and see how unfair the system treated him. if you love this book, you should also check out 'bronson' starring tom hardy.

Great Book
This was the first book by Charles Bronson that I read, and I have to say just like his other books it did not let me down. He goes into great detail about his prison time and what he has went through. After reading this book it makes you think about him in a different way, a positive way. I easily give this book 5 stars and would recommend it to everyone!

A product of the system?
Pretty good read.Fascinating man!Respect for the fact that he will tell his story. And damn does he tell his story!!A product of the system? Difficult one! You'll have to make your own mind up on that one!Worth reading.Somewhat repetitive in places would be my only criticism.

Unforgettable
It's hard to believe a man could survive this many years of brutality and constantly being moved from prison to prison in mostly solitary confinement. No human being should have to endure this kind of treatment. And to receive a life sentence for hostage taking? Sad, heartbreaking true story.

Worth the read
He tends to ramble sometimes and some of his thoughts don't come through right away. It was interesting enough I found myself looking for additional details elsewhere while I read through the book. Overall a good read.

Insanity at it's Best
This is a corker of a book!People say, “Would you want Charles Bronson living next door to you?”I honestly wouldn’t have a problem with it.Decency, I believe, and virtue to a certain extent, are about character; honour, integrity, compassion, unselfishness and moral courage.Bronson’s books are quite funny in places, but he comes across as someone whose loyalty is stronger than blood, and whose integrity is hard as nails. He’s never killed anyone yet he’s been in prison for over 30 years, the majority of that time spent in solitary confinement as prison governors do everything they can to break him. He’s inside that long mainly because he keeps taking people hostage, chinning screws and carrying out rooftop protests, costing the system millions. And it’s the system that this book is really about. How insane it is that murderers come into prison, gain parole after a few short years, go out and kill again, and arrive back in prison. And meanwhile Bronson, fighting against that very same system watches them come and go, and yet he’s still banged up!As the book draws to a close it becomes very clear that it’s the system itself that drove him insane, but it’s also that insanity that kept him sane.Read it!

An easy read, but not a very good one.
Purchased as a gift for my husband, (so this is really his critique). Basically the book is an extended rant about Charles Bronson, how great he thinks he is, how hard done by he is (I don't really disagree on that point), and how terrible life in the prison system can be. The book has a tendancy to ramble over the same points several times, and according to my husband, Bronson effectively comes across as the kind of attention seeking man you might meet trying to hold court at the local pub. My husband is a much slower reader than I am, but he was able to read the book from beginning to end in an entire day.

A great book
A great book. If you're interested in Charlie Bronson (now called Charles Salvador) or anything to do with crime and law it is well worth a read. He is a fascinating man. Chas goes into great detail about his prison time and what he has went through. You'll see how unfair the system treated him. He also talks about mental illnesses. Chas is a real man with strong morals and a deep mind. Respect!

Interesting and Excellent
If you're interested in Charlie Bronson or anything to do with crime and law it is well worth a read. Bronson seems to be quite an intelligent guy beneath his 'hard-man' image and certainly has some great insight into prison life and the way things are run, not always for the better. The only thing I would say against this book is that it is all based around his time in the 'nut-houses' not his entire prison life. Also it does jump around a bit and doesn't read like a well structured book, more like a story if you sat and listened to him tell you, it's a little... "Oh you'll never believe what happened in 1989...." "Oh and in 83..." "Oh which reminds me when I was in Broadmoor..." etc etc.Other than that it's a good read.

decent
A fairly interesting read about Charles Bronson and he is honest in his story, he doesn't glorify his actions or life.
