BritaMaxtra Water Filter Cartridges (Pack of 6)

Wrong items received
I ordered the Maxtra cartridge but received Maxtra+. I searched through the options to find the old version, Maxtra before ordering. The problem I have with this is that it takes a ridiculous amount of time to filter through. I don't know whether it is because it isn't suitable for my Brita hot cup dispenser or whether it is always that way. The old ones with the loop on the top for easy disposal were much quicker and so easier to use.

These work! No more limescale in our filtered water!
These do really work! We live in a hard water area so these are basically essential to prevent the kettle being killed in 6 months but also ensuring our tea and water is nice to drink. They are easy to setup and they do last a good month with fairly moderate to high use so they do the job well in that respect.Downside is they are expensive for what is essentially just carbon from coconut shells and other beads which reduce the limescale. From Brita:The activated carbon removes substances that may impair taste, such as chlorine and chlorine compounds (where present). The ion exchange resin used reduces the carbonate hardness (limescale), accordingly softening tap water, and reduces metals, such as copper and lead, that can occur as a result of domestic installation. So, yes, expensive but they consistently fit well and do the job s well we continue to buy them.

Excellent especially at the right price!
Verified PurchaseWe have been using these for years and our Brita kettle is certainly appreciative as there has been no limescale build up over about 5 years of use. I also have a Samsung fridge with a built in filter so use it to refill those too so I need them to be pretty cost effective but living on London the water quality is an issue! In terms of purchase the price can fluctuate wildly so I tend to hold one of these in my 'wish list' to get a view as to when the decrease comes along then buy a pack for several months use. The last time of ordering it was for twelve pounds for a pack of 6 so try to aim for something like this. You can recycle old cartridges - simply visit this website (cut and paste) and type in your Postcode. There should be a drop off very close to where you live and also in most major supermarkets: [...]Overall, a great purchase and if you buy at the right time very cost-effective

Not fit for purpose
Followed the instructions to the letter and repacked promptly when indicated, but to no avail. Had real problems with limescale buildup in our kettle since using these. Pic also shows tea made with filtered water - all scummy. Clearly they don’t filter limescale out at all. Water also tastes ‘brackish’ after about an hour. Shall not be buying these again.

A MUST HAVE
I have had this filter and jug for now two years (no I haven't used the same filter for two years haha I have changed the cartridge once it got old.Hands down you can taste the difference in the water. The water even makes you feel more healthier and can tell the difference with the filtered Brita water and the tap water which has chemicals used to clean it.Definitely would suggest buying and using it for the whole family especially for kids.
