Not as much Wonder as before
I have to say not a DC fan but after enjoying the first Wonder Woman film ( bought because Chris Pine was in it! ) I decided to give the second a go. All actors give great performances ( Gal Gadot, Pedro Pascal ( who gives a fun performance ) and Chris Pine) it's just that the story doesn't quite live up to its predecessor. I stuck with it and did enjoy it and have now watched it a couple of times. The end of the film was way to sickly sweet, and let the story down. Would still recommend. A good not great watch.

A collage of story ideas with a deep moral undercurrent.
So, I do get the reason why this 2nd solo WW film is lighter in general story presentation than the 1st.Considering DC were putting out some darker, more adult storylines and productions, it has now rethought its target audience to include a younger set. That said, this particular production is more colourful, brighter, uplifting and an easier going action drama storyline that is more aimed at a family oriented/TV series type audience. As a continuation of the story from the first film, this doesn't do too badly at all. There are a few "lame" moments of visual awkwardness as well as dialogue irrelevance and sloppiness; ie, padding the script whilst lengthening the buildup before getting into the story proper. But all in all, this is a great film. The scenes of the early days of young Diana are often the best part of our hero's story. Giving us a moral underpinning for the modern day section. It is also a fabulous buzz to see all the original characters from The Amazon's secret island and female culture back in full swing - literally.Furthermore, the wirework done for WW leaping around a genuine 80s Mall, foiling an antiquities heist, is blindingly good and complex. However, the added spfx to smooth out bumps and rough camera tracking, removes the "live presence" of the action altogether. It looks more like a green screen studio event with a Mall background added to the sequence. The inclusion of cutsy kids enjoying the specticale of a superhero in action, as well as the rather daft 80's TV stunt acting style employed here, takes a lot of heat out of the seriousness of the dramatic inciting incident. It appears that more attention was put into the unseen details of the Mall itself than to the importance of this scene as a vital driver to set the main thrust of the story into play. From this point on the story lingers and stays very low key for far too long.Arguably it isn't as strong a story as the original, but holds its own on certain fronts. The end result, however, is more reminiscent of a mish-mash from the original Supergirl movie (with some clear nods to the basic premise and flying sequences), the 2nd Christopher Reeves Superman movie and some X-Men mindpower/technological ideas. The strength of the movie lay in its moral imperative. That the capacity of humanity, the human heart, the willingness to do better for the greater good, that of selfless acts and love of family are more important than material wealth and gain. Particularly at the expense of other's needs, our own physical/mental/emotional health, and to life itself.WW brings up some rather deep undercurrent perseptives and surprises: One's wishing power comes with a health warning. If you've ever read "The Secret" you'll know what power I mean. So be careful of what you wish for!!Our true strength lies within, not with external appearances and a perceived power over others. This fact is borne out with some of the action sequences that hold a much more subtle "life lesson" than the excitement of the actual choreography of the fight, or an over simplistic good V bad/right V wrong argument. This is a feel good story with some fairly obvious pointers to a few unsavoury characters in real life.WW '84 clearly harks back to the original TV series of the 70s. And just to add to that claim, it has a fabulous post credit tag-on section that we older kids, in our 40s up to our 70s will, in no doubt, appreciate.Enjoy the film for what it is rather than disregard it for what it isn't.

“Some days, my childhood seemed so far away…… (opening line)
The film opens to a fly through of the Amazonians homeland before focusing on a young Diana, then jumps to 1984, where we see an adult Diana working at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., where she soon comes into contact with a super natural artifact that brings on the main plot of the movie. The main issue for me was that it took half an hour to get anywhere near the actual plot (lose a*). However, once the plot comes into play this is a lively super-hero movie and abounds with thrills. Gal Gadot and the lead cast members do a good job and the special effects do not disappoint (regain a *)This single disc opens to a main screen offering play, scenes selection, languages (English, English descriptive, Polski, Polski Lektor) and subtitles in most Scandinavian languages and some east European, and there is a scene study (a making of piece -set in the Mall)Although this doesn’t have swearing or overt sexual content, it does feature enormous amounts of ‘Super-Hero’ style violence that makes it unsuitable for younger viewers. I also found the sound a little muffled and difficult to understand in the earlier scenes (despite using a sound system)Suspension of beliefs always comes into effect in these types of movies but this does push the boundary a little too much as weak scripting creates many plot holes and discrepancies. Entertainment wise it’s a ***** rating but does need a trim to move certain sections along (especially the beginning) and the ending wasn’t clearly thought through IMHO. Would I watch this again, probably next year, not sooner, which means overall it gets a **** from me.

First one better
I had high hopes when the second follow up movie came out, but it failed to live up to the first. I just couldn't get into it.

Great Hera ! You'll believe a (wonder) woman can fly!
Before covid raised its ugly head I thought I would be seeing this in the cinemas to make up for not seeing the first there. But the dvd is better than nothing. And I glad I did Patty J once again delivers the goods with a film that is ,in my mind, equal to the first. To start Themyscira is once again visited with Robin Wright stealing the scenes as Antiope. Fast forward to 1984 and we find Diana living alone but still doing heroic deeds as WW. One wish later and Steve Trevor returns giving us the Gadot/Pine chemistry we all love to see. One things for certain I shall never look at Poptarts in the quite same way again.Wiig and Pascal play two excellent villians with a human side to them. And once Max lord gets to grant everyones desires later in the film chaos unfolds with wars, economic downturns, riots and cows . And when Barbara becomes Cheetah then the trouble really starts.Enter the Golden Armour...However there is one tiny thing wrong with it. The Capital Hill riots when everyone gets their wishes granted. Common Patty! Theres no way that can happen.....All in all this will be a future classic and I cannot understand the one star reviews this film has got over the weeks since it came out. Maybe they watched a different movie. Now for the Themyscira film with Antiope ,young Diana growing up and Kangas. Plus plenty of Themyscira scenery in all its rich colour .We want more Patty!
