Can’t stop planting!!
This book provides creative ideas as well as plants that will thrive, not just survive, in the Southeast which I really needed to know having moved from the Midwest.

2 landscaping books almost identical design content
I purchased 2 landscaping books; Southeast Landscaping and Southern Coast Landscaping.I expected 2 different sets of design suggestions. While there are positives about these books, just be aware the design suggestions inside these 2 books are almost identical.Positives: the placement diagrams are clearly labeled for plant suggestions.Plant profiles include photos. The Southern Coastal Plant profiles and images are clearly labeled with information on light, water use and salt tolerance

Wonderful resource!
Love how vast information packed into this book! So many suggestions and ideas, and then there are “variations on a theme” so whether you have a subtropical location or more of a cool mountain landscape, you will find a suitable plan. There are also examples of what the plantings will look like in 5, 10, or 20 years, enabling the gardener to really visualize how the design will look in the future. Specialized ideas for north side of homes, or south side where there is more heat or sun. Ideas for any location in your yard…entryways, deck ideas, or around a pool. There are also instructions for building hard scapes and pathways…everything you need for inspiration to create a beautiful home landscape. Whether you are a novice gardener, or well experienced, this will be a book you will love.

Good ideas and reference.
I like the way the designs in this book give one a design and then show other variations on the design such as full sun, partial sun or full shade. Have to use different plants in every situation and this helps one chose the right plant for the right spot, thus saving money on landscaping and saving one's back on all the digging. Dig once and be done! Photos, illustrations & plant templates are nice and large, easy to read and look at. Pages are wide so the book stays open on it's own. And I like that it is specific to the Southeast, telling what I can and can't plant in this part of the nation. Still have to pay attention to USDA zones on each plant or one may lose the plant and money.

Exactly what I needed!
The Southeast US has an overwhelming amount of possible plants that can be used in a landscape design - especially compared to where we lived in Wyoming with a 2-month growing season. I loved that the book showed pictures of the plants in a real landscape design, then provided a sketch of the plants and indicated the name of each one. If you don't like the plants used in the design, it's easy enough to substitute something else that you like from the "index" of plants in the back with photos and growth/care requirements and planting zone. This book is SO helpful!
