This hammock advertises itself as "extremely strong", and as far as the hammock goes that may well be true. The rigging ropes on the other hand, are highly suspect. Parachute cord has an advertised breaking strength of 550 pounds. People who know and use rope figure the safe working load of a rope is 10 to 15% of that, so around 50 to 80 pounds for paracord. Knots, especially poor knots, can further reduce that by another 40%. So the first thing I did was replace all the parachute cord with some straps and ropes with a suitable working load. Having done that, I have slightly increased the bulk and weight (and cost), but eliminated the likelihood of a nasty fall. The hammock itself seems to be fine, amply large and well-sewn.Parachute cord is a useful utility rope, but I wouldn't trust it to hold up a hammock with me in it.
