I use it to sharpen my straight razor. Soak the stone in water for about 10-20 minutes, flatten the surface and you're ready start honing. The price is better than the splash and go stones, and the results are as good. Good purchase.

This is my "first real" whetstone. I'm very impressed. Great response and paired with a 1000 grit stone as well as a leather strop you will get unbelievable sharpness! I'd recommend this stone as an amazing finishing stone.

La piedra es suave y fina en el deslizamiento del cuchillo sobre ella. Pero es también efectiva.No es dura como son las Shapton Kuromaku, por lo que se desgasta más y se genera más barrillo. No obstante no es un desgaste alarmante.Tarda mucho en secarse, días de hecho. Es la piedra que más tarda en secarse de las que tengo (tengo pocas en realidad, pero me ha sorprendido lo que tarda en evaporar el agua que acumula) pienso que es debido a lo fino que es el grano ya que esta es la piedra más fina que tengo.Conozco pocas piedras y ninguna de esta finura, por lo que no puedo comparar, pero aconsejo esta piedra por las sensaciones que da y lo efectiva que es.Deja un bisel brillante.

Nothing to dislike. I doubt I will ever purchase a different 5000 stone again; unless the price dramatically increases.Feedback is amazing. The feel of the stone is....creamy. It is almost as if you are holding fossilized custard. The cut is great and the wear has been better than ever imagined. It gives more of a matted finish, but one that is easily made mirror with a little bit of stropping.I attached pictures of 2 knives that I did on it that I have not used yet. The Kershaw was stropped and easily exhibits a mirror finish. The SOG was finished on this stone. I was not as meticulous on the equal grinding along the edge, but the point is made.I recommend this stone to anyone and everyone! An absolutely MUST HAVE for any avid sharpener.
