Aside from the cover, which I would not have chosen if I was William Syrell's editor, as it seems off-putting, this is a necessary work that illuminates the profound power of darkness, which is the ante-room of lightness. Hitting on many themes, from straight ahead cerebral to borderline madness, the work is never verbose and there is a cleverness to the writing which I admired. I found it mysterious that that portrait-again-made it to the cover whereas a ' Black Orchid ' might have sufficed considering the depth of the dark epigrams involved. Certain one's stood out, such as " Death, " My Giving Ways, " 11-22-83, " Oh, to be 5 Again, " and Good Morning. " There is a deep, caring mind at work here, and an intelligence behind the mind skirmishes. I look forward to his coming works on, as examples he mentioned, Religion, Love and Fear, etc. and commend him for putting pen to paper as he did involving such a deep and to many a scary, avoidable subject.
