Hack/Slash Omnibus Volume 1

My first comic book...
I'm not a comic book guy and never found any interest in reading superhero comics or anything like that. The most exposure I got from comics was watching Linkara's videos but nothing else really. Hack/Slash was introduced to me during his Halloween retrospective and I bought it just because it sounded cool. A goth chick and her disfigured ogre-like companion killing slasher villains and cracking jokes while at it. And truth to be told, I wasn't disappointed. Hack/Slash Omnibus featured some fun stories with clever writing and nice art-work. I'm definitely looking forward for more Cassie Hack's adventures. The stories are placed in chronological order and there are few extras beside the stories. It's well worth the price if you like silly girl beating the cliches of the slasher films.

Cassie's gonna get ya!
Great variety of artwork throughout the volume, done by different artists. There's also a really good cover and pin-up art gallery at the back of the book.Cassie is a very strong, well written female character. She's defiant, dedicated, likeable, logical and very loyal to those around her. She's written, drawn and acts in a very natural way throughout the book. The "vs chucky" story was the standout story i thought. I also liked "euthanized", "girls gone dead", and "land of lost toys".

Slasher horror at it's best
This is a great little number, for all you Friday 13th, Chucky, Halloween etc etc fans. The female survivor hits back in classic blow for blow style. Cassie Hack and Vlad trail various infamous slashers/serial killers/high school maniacs, with the culmination of The devil doll himself 'Chucky', in a somewhat surprising plot. Beautifully illustrated and good straight "go for it text" keeps the stories fresh and rolling along at a great pace. If you're a fan of slasher/horror flics buy this now. If you're not....well buy it anyway and you may become one. Top class.

Reccomended.
This is a really fun comic book. It's a quite hefty book obviously, but don't make that detract from the fun. its a great book, with well drawn panels and witty writing. I love this comic. if you're into horror, you'll get the various references that it makes.

A comic with a (bloody) heart.
Hack/Slash is a fantastic series loaded with gore and a great sense of humour. Superbly written and beautiful art, i can't recommend it enough. B-movie horror at it's best.
