Solid box, but drive heats up too much
I used this enclosure for a 4TB SATA III 7200RPM drive. The controller is extremely fast. I tried it both on a Macbook Pro Retina with USB 3.0 (using the cable that came with the case) and on a Macbook Pro Touchbar with Thunderbolt 3 (used my own cable). The transfer rates were excellent. The soft touch power button is also a nice feature making it easy to shutdown the drive when not needing to access backup storage. The one problem I had with the case is that there is no airflow at all. The material it is made of is a thermal insulator. It feels like a very durable plastic. There are no vent holes anywhere, which I didn't notice from the pictures on the listing.I will likely keep the enclosure, but will modify the case with my Dremel to allow passive airflow around the drive. I will probably remove 40%-60% of the case material, especially on the top. I will also add smaller vent holes on the bottom to keep the exposed drive controller board protected. Finally, the case needs to be held off the surface to allow cold air to move in the bottom. Something like this should be enough to create the airflow. https://www.amazon.com/Adhesive-Cabinet-Drawers-Dampening-MOZOALND/dp/B07CDCPSST/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=rubber+bumper+pad+sticker&qid=1558479493&s=gateway&sr=8-6For what its worth, I would not buy this enclosure again. The modifications I am making should not be needed to keep a drive cool in an external enclosure. I wouldn't buy this enclosure with the expectation you can just mod it for cooling. Just buy a better enclosure.

Fast, looks cool
I popped in a 7200RPM 4TB HDD and used an Amazon Basics USB type C 3.1 Gen 2 cable rather than the USB C to A cable in the box. My PC has one USB Type C 3. Gen 1 port, and I was keen to put it to use.The speed test I ran seems to indicate that the enclosure is indeed accessing the hard drive at full speed. It's slow compared to SSDs, but capacity vs. cost still gives hard drives the clear upper hand for large storage needs. The case feels cheap, which is not surprising as it is obviously clear plastic. You'll want to take care to not carry it around to avoid scratching. Also, there are no rubber feet on the case, which is disappointing, but easily fixed. Without feet, the enclosure slides around easily on a desk. This seems to be a common feature between these lower priced enclosures. The enclosure has a power management feature (part of the standard used for USB hard drives) which spins the drive down after a short time. This makes Windows appear to hang when you open a folder to view the drive or its contents, while it powers on and spins up. There is no way to disable it without a program always running in the background to send timed read/write commands to the drive. I'm not a fan, but it could really save someone's bacon in a power loss.Overall, I am pleased with my purchase, and I think the LED power / activity light really sets this case off.

Difficult to get drives out. Don't keep your drive in this enclosure when traveling.
Works fine, no issues with operation. Loses 2 stars because there isn't enough room to get the drive out without tweaking the SATA connection a little bit, which seems like a terrible choice. It needs about 2mm more clearance on the end opposite the SATA port.If you travel with hard drives you should remove them from this enclosure before travelling. Keep the drive in an anti-static bag and assemble it after travelling. If you don't this enclosure is probably going to get ruined quickly.

Nice looking, but doesn't work
I was excited to get a USB 3.2 capable hard drive enclosure, but I was disappointed when I opened the box. The power adapter that was required to power a 3.5 inch hard drive was missing the connector that I need to plug it into the wall. Now I have to decide if I am going to return it, or shell out $10 for a 12v, 2amp power adapter. Not happy.....

So far perfect
USB-C modelUsage:Easy to see which drive you are using.Easy to remove the cover for quick toolless change of drives.USB-C connector is solid and fast.2 different color lights indicate if the drive is on, and if drive is being used.Came with USB-C to USB 3 cable.Even with heavy read-write, case and drive stayed cool even without a fan.Quite---Things to know:Lights are somewhat brite, unsure if they can be dimmed or turned offIF you want USB-C to USB-C, you'll need a different cable.
