Riester 2100-201 e-scope Direct Illumination Otoscope with XL 2.5V Xenon, White

Mine arrived and sure enough the light did not work.. arghhh. The thought of sending it back ruined my day... but like many I tinker, so I took off the supporting ring (just screws off) pictured here and found nothing to mess with, so I screwed it back together to ship it back.Amazingly this simple action resulted in the light coming on... there may be some malformation, contamination in this area that just needed cleaning.I see nothing wrong with the simple devise, but I would have expected QC to at least check the light works before shipping them, so I offer just 4 stars for ruining my day.---- Update (July 2020)I've been using it now a long time and regularly so can say it is a well constructed item. It's been through the wars and has served well so I guess QC did better than I gave credit for. That said there is one major draw back to this one.... the power usage is very high and I regularly need to change the batteries. A fresh set of batteries gives a very bright and clear image, but after a few days the colour changes to yellow, the image gets more difficult to make out and it's time to change the batteries. For those who want one for the medicine cabinet, it's perfect and you'll get a good clear image (no focus so you need to move forward and back to adjust).
