I was looking for a smooth writing ballpoint pen with a fine point. Admittedly, I'm particular about my writing instruments. I don't like medium-point pens or gel pens, and I prefer black ink. (although I have an affinity for violet ink from time to time) It's also annoying when the ink pools and spots in places on the paper as I write, or when the ink comes out inconsistently, which happens often in gel pens. I see why these pens are considered BIC "classics." They are not only one of the first pens BIC manufactured (1950), but they are still the best in terms of smooth and consistent ink flow, long-lasting use, and inexpensive price point. The only thing they could improve upon with these pens is the darkness of the ink. I may try Papermate's InkJoy brand fine-point pens to see if they're any better in this regard. In the meantime, I'll be using these. I highly recommend these, especially if you're an avid writer, journaler, and/or copious notetaker like me.
