Freshly Stitched: Modern Embroidery for Absolute Beginners

I recently got into hard embroidery and loved the designs in this book. One significant disappointment is that they print the pattern double sided. They tell you to use a light source to trace the pattern onto your fabric. But you can see the other pattern too. I took a photo of it, uploaded into a drawing app, traced it, then was able to trace it onto the fabric.

The book starts off with an introduction to the artist/author and includes a curated playlist to play while you embroider. The book starts with the basics and explains all of the supplies you will need. A section on self-care ensures that you have a comfortable experience while stitching. The first pattern teaches you all the basic stitches that you will need for the various botanical-themed patterns. Each pattern includes a list of supplies and stitches, a personal introduction to give inspiration, detailed instructions with tips, and end with a quote and stitch diary for you to make notes. An Appendix for quick reference is included at the end of the book. Photos are bright and cheerful. The book truly feels like a conversation with a friend.

This embroidery book is SO beautiful! It is very apparent a lot of creativity and thoughtfulness went into each part of the book. It is all very eye catching and very well done. Being new to embroidery this book made it seem very exciting and well within grasp to make beautiful hoops just like the author herself has done. Love the step by step photos and the helpful patterns printed in the back of the book. I also have ordered several hoops from the authors Etsy store that hang in my home! Definitely recommend this book and would give more stars if I could!!!

I saw some Harry Potter embroidery on Etsy and decided then and there that I needed to learn the craft! I didn’t want to begin right off the bat with absolutely no idea what I was doing so I bought this book to get in some practice first. So glad I did! It is amazing! Easy to read, easy to understand, beautiful pictures and descriptions. And it comes with all the patterns it references in the book. I definitely recommend this for someone who wants to learn this adorable craft!

I'm very pleased to have this book added to my shelf! Each pattern is approachable for beginners, interesting for more experienced embroiderers, and detailed. The descriptions are easy to follow, the diagrams are clear, and the information is helpful. I love the check-ins throughout asking the reader to reflect on their projects as they go. It makes the book feel like more of an experience or journey than just a manual. The hardback binding is high quality and looks good, and the whole book is well produced. Highly recommend!

I found this book very informative, better than some books I have tried. The instructions were clear and the pictures were in colour which is something I find very helpful. There are also line drawing for the patterns. Of the embroidery books I have seen this is one of the better ones.

Love this book. Beautiful templates and explanations from the author as well as a journal for the readers. A must buy for beginners who love nature embroidery.

This hook is beautiful! It has fun projects that include the pattern and step by step tutorials on how to do each stitch that the pattern requires. Clear photos and great written explanations! I love it!
