for hot weather go with the 50 50 nyco rip stop
depending on what your looking for this is a good hat.if your looking for a boonie hat strictly to beat the heat this isnt the best for that as it doesnt breathe as well due to the poly cotton blend.also there is no map pocket which leaves a single layer protecting the top of your head from the sun.if your looking for a boonie to deal with rain its surprisingly good at repelling water for short periods and even long periods when soaked still holds up great and doesnt droop(water proof boonies are too hot).i got the 7 3/4 and was a little loose at first but shrunk naturally ( never dried or washed mine, followed the tag ) one thing i noticed and most people wont care is there is a yellow tint to the color and it keeps it from matching real ucp ACUs and gear. for comparison one pic has the rothco on the left and the tru spec on the right

A true Type II as advertised. Seems decently-made, and does the job, but I long for the original...
My first new boonie in forty-five years! My old Type II in Woodland camo has finally begun to unravel, and has been retired to a place of honor. Type IIs are tough to find - almost every store I've looked in sells only Type Is, and I think the brim on these is too narrow. I gave up on an original 'Nam-era hat - I could stomach the astronomical prices, but no one seems to have a 7 3/4 for my watermelon head. So I bought this instead. It seems well-made, the vents are still brass (though smaller than the original), and the brim is stiffer than my old one (which I like). The crown doesn't feel as deep as the old one. Maybe the oldie stretched somewhat - don't know. I feel very "today" in the ACU Digital camo, but I long for Old New Stock in that old-fashioned Woodland pattern.

Great quality Boonie
I wanted a Boonie hat similar to the one I wore in the Army, but in Olive Drab instead of Desert Tan. This hat was just what I had in mind. It's pretty authentic in look and feel, and fits as expected. I just went ahead and ordered the size I wore in the military and it fit just fine. The drawstring seems a little shorter, but I can't remember how long the U.S. issued ones were. Either way, the draw string is long enough to fit anyone's head, I'm sure. The only other difference that I can tell, is that this has the loops, as pictured. The one I was issued did not have loops, but that didn't matter to me in the slightest when I decided to make the purchase. I've had this hat now for about 3 years, and put it through a lot since then, including plenty of hiking, camping and 2 years worth of landscaping...so namely, lots of exposure to sweat and the elements, and tons of washings. The hat has held up great and is still in good shape. One note about maintenance: I always hang dry the hat rather than drying it, because that's just what I did in the military and it works just fine for me.

Excellent hat, great price
Exactly what I wanted. I am happy you have a big color collection because I will buy more in the future. Hat was a little tight at first but after wearing it for maybe an hr it fits my head. Good craftsmanship. I recommend.

Highly recommended.
I like this hat a lot. I used it while tubing down a river in Utah. It kept me in the shade and held up well to getting wet. It seems robust in construction, and I don't see it failing me anytime soon. The color is quite nice (I bought the coyote brown color). The drawstring is also useful for keeping it on your head when it's windy. I made the foolish mistake of buying a size larger than what I usually wear (I was simply too excited and couldn't wait for my size to come in stock), but it still stays on my head nicely. I have a skin-tight fade, so you can imagine how hard it is for this hat to cling on to my head. Highly recommend this hat.

Great Product
This a great boonie hat considering it's made by Rotcho, I bought a full set of Sky Blue BDU's and this boonie to go along with for airsoft. I have to say I'm surprised with this boonie because I've bought other boonies from rotcho and they are usually constructed more like a bucket hat or fisher men's hat and this is more a mil spec design just like any other repro company like tru-spec of Propper. I recommend this to anyone who wants to try a "different" pattern. The only con I had was when I was buying these sky blue BDU's I thought there was going to be white in the pattern because of the display picture, but it turns out it's just a really light blue. It wasn't a deal killer for me so I am still giving 5 out of 5

Nice Comfortable Hat
Boonie Hat fits perfectly and is comfortable to wear. Have not used the chin strap but it is there if needed. I really like the ability to fold it up and put it into your pocket so you don't loose it when riding roller coasters.PROS:- Comfortable- Easy to put in pocket for riding Roller Coasters- Can roll up an it will easily pop back into form when needed again- Has chin strap (adjustable)

Not a sun hat
Had this about a week. Washed today, didn’t dry. Didn’t seem to shrink much if at all. Not sure why everyone is complaining about size, I wear a tight 6 7/8 fitted ball cap. This is a 7, seems about right. No elastic, more a cowboy style where the inside circumference has to be accurate because there’s no elasticity to shrink to you’re head. It’s a shallow style hat, not one a tall cap. Pulled down tight, sits just above eyebrows. Seems to be sumwhat water repelant but not proof. Brim is only couple of inches so it’s not designed to be a sun hat. But does block some sun and doesn’t block you’re peripheral which is good for me, I’m a delivery driver. As long as it lasts a yr or so I’d buy again. If you want high quality and authenticity and made in USA, than keep shopping and take take out a 2nd mortgage on your house. This is a cheap hat that’s made cheaply & does the job. 4 stars because it wasn’t free. Lol
