Good cam, trash lifters
Cam runs good. However, save yourself the headache and grab a set of comp lifters before install

Update
The cam is great the Elgin lifters are junk. 600 miles and 4 lifters actually cracked and broke in half. Looks like their made from pot metal. Needless to say it bent 3 push rods and tore one in half. I took it to 3 machine shops to get their thoughts on the failure. All three said defective lifters. The block and heads were machined prior to assembly . All specs met. This was at 60mph on the highway almost no load and it just gave way and locked up after pieces of lifter found its way where it shouldn't. Wiped out the cam and I'm sure other parts, Still inspecting and micing out all parts to be 100% sure nothing else caused it. So far everything is in spec as it was prior to assembly. If I find an error I post my findings but I'm down to nuts and bolts now. No problems. DON'T be fooled by the cheap price. They are CHEAP. you save $40-60 bucks and get $ 2000 in damage. I wrote Elgin and so far no reply. Searching the internet I'm not alone. Others have had the same thing happen. All between 500 and 1200 miles on new engine. I believe all were lifters complaints were for gen 1 SBC. Mine was a 84 350Buy the CAM then get GM or comp lifters or any other mfr that make quality parts.Thank youDougUpdate 11-19-2017In this picture the part on top is one of the Elgin lifters that failed. Look at the metal its made of. How the metal has so many pits like junk pot metal has. Also note that it broke in the middle of the oil hole (the weakest point). On the bottom is a stock chevy lifter from your truck. I made the cut in it to show what a proper lifter is made of, SOLID steel. Any company should make replacement part AT LEAST to the quality of the stock factory parts. Its plain to see the Elgin lifters don't come close. From the outside there's no way to tell good from bad, they look the same. I would never in my lifetime (57 yrs) believed a company would build such junk. No doubt this is the cause of the engine failure and a $2500 rebuild as a peace of lifter ended up in a oil passage which caused a main bearing to fail causing a rod to break and on and on. Ended up with a cracked block, trashed crankshaft, camshaft, rods and most pistons. Elgin won't reply to my emailsUPDATE 2/1/2018 After talking to an Elgin I was to there are counterfit lifters sold unnder the Eglin name and for me to fix this with the seller which is Amazon. Butsince it is thru a third party, Notheren Auto parts Its been the run around as before. Amazon has been helpful trying to contact Northern and the ball is rolling to see what can be done.I'll update the results

Don't buy on Amazon
I would not buy this on Amazon had one it lasted 35 miles then ate the lobe and lifter for intake on #8 bought the same one from my local autozone 133.00 and packaging was way different cam weighed 1/2 a lb more than the one from Amazon and the lifters weighed more too I think Amazon got some copy cat cams and lifters made with junk metal.
