Doesn't look like the people who wrote the instructions on how to use/maintain this product have a firm grasp on the English language, but the meter seems to made well enough. Oh, I almost forgot, it seems to be accurate. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is the second sentence in the operation instructions says, "First, rinse the electrode with distilled water, and dry it with filter paper." WHAT IS "FILTER PAPER"? Do you have any FILTER PAPER at home. I don't. I think they should have included some in the kit. Now, I have to go find some filter paper. Let's see.----None over here.-----None over there.------Wow! This is going to be tough. Hmmmm. I wonder if toilet paper will work? No, I better not try it. I'll just run down to the local "Laboratory Items" store and get some. "Noooot". Jim A.

This pH meter is great. I bought it to test the acidity in different foods since my son has a sensitivity to acidic foods. But when I received the meter the ease of use and accuracy turned this into something to use for lots of different things such as making sure I had the correct ratio of vinegar to water to soak my cast iron pan that needed fixed. This has become a product I reach for frequently and has taken the guesswork out of finding the acidity of different foods and such in the kitchen. I foresee myself using this frequently with how easy it is to use and how accurate it is, my son is also loves to use it which has been a great learning tool for him.

The unit works great for testing pool water except the directions for adding buffer powder to distilled water are not real clear, some may add all 3 packages of the buffer powders to 1, 250ml glass of water when each is dissolved into 3 separate jars and it is not explained that they can be put into pint mason jars, marked and saved for future calibrations, it is not explained that RO water can also be used, this is according to a chemist at work.

Worked for a couple of days then stopped working but when it did work it seemed accurate. Sent it back for a refund. I bought the cheaper color strips, they work just fine and can show you chlorine level and alkalinity along with ph. I'm sure others work and it would be nice to have a number but with me being a new pool owner and so far this summer I didn't have any trouble with algae, water was clear and clean, all is good. If something goes horribly wrong you could always take a sample to a local pool store so they could tell you what to do.

These low cost, "modern" electronics can be problematic, low cost, but of highly questionable quality.This was to replace a non-functioning one, from a different supplier. But it is the same, basic unit- same internal electronics, batteries, in a different case.Even the instructions are written in an identical way, with the same, incorrect tense associated with a given word- hence the loss of a starBut this one worked after trying a few "interpretations" of the instructions

Overall this gave very accurate readings. I love the color of it (lol) and I love that it comes with its own carrying case. I got this mainly for my dad and his pool and he loves that it is easy to read (his eyes are not what they used to be). Calibration was a little time comsuming but this product was easy to use and of great quality.

Usage: Water testing for aquariums.Although I followed the instructions and soaked the electrodes in distilled water for the recommended amount of time the instrument I received does not hold calibration reliably. To be sure of a somewhat accurate reading I have to recalibrate before every use.Now I understand the price difference between the low end and professional use models (e.g. Horiba Laqua Twin pH Meter (B-713) $269.99 + shipping on Amazon). I will return the selpHbalance and look around some more for a reliable meter.
