Finally!
I've been saying for years that someone needs to make vacuum sealer compatible mylar bags. I couldn't find any anywhere. I stumbled across these a couple weeks ago.So far, they seem to work great with my lower end Foodsaver machine. They pull a really good vacuum and the sealer works well, which was, apparently, the reason nobody made them before: mylar was too hard to seal without really high temperatures. The material seemed a bit thin, but I've vacuum sealed pasta and other pointy foods and, so far, none of it has punctured the bag. They've held their vacuum for a week now. In my experience with the "old" method of using an iron to seal the bags, if it will hold a vacuum for a few days, it will usually hold it for a long, long time. This makes my long term food storage SO much easier. When everyone is out panic-buying food because of the pandemic, I can sit back and watch while munching on 10-year-old popcorn.UPDATE: It's been over a month now, and the 30 or so bags that I've sealed are all holding. I even ordered more. This stuff is great!Update II: It's been 7 months. Not a single bag has leaked. Time to order more.

bags made from these rolls leak air
Re: Mylar Vacuum Seal 11"x16' Rolls | SteelPak Textured/Embossed Aluminum Foil Vacuum... sold by "Discount Mylar Bags (ShieldPro Flexible Packaging)"I made several mylar bags by sealing one end of each piece 1/2 inch with an iron. The other end was vacuum sealed with 3 beads made by a food saver. All of these seals look good with no breaks. Out of 10 vacuumed and sealed bags, 5 have let in enough air that the bags are flexible. When they were first sealed, the bags were very rigid and inflexible but after sitting a week untouched, several failed to hold the vacuum. So either the dry food that is sealed, dry beans, dry rice etc has released enough moisture after sealing for the vapor to account for the gas inside, or the bags leak air. I think they leak air because a few of them are still rigid. Thus, these are unreliable, a waste time and money and make it so you have to do the same job twice. These rolls and the bags made from them are inanimate objects that don't have any "suction power" so I would take any review that gives them 5 stars for that with a grain of salt.

Work well, no bag related failures, somewhat fragile
They just work without costing three arms and a leg. I've ordered batches of 11" wide roll bags four times in the last 3 months and bagged up over 100 days of long term food reserves as well as misc. short term uses without bag caused hassles. Both of the cheapo vacuum sealers I've used had no difficulties reaching a high vacuum state in the bags. They are somewhat fragile, I did puncture a filled one with a fingernail when trying to pick up the one next to it. Recommended.

Would not vacuum much air, but sealed well
My foodsaver would not pull nearly as much air out as with the plastic bags. They did seal, so I hope the oxygen absorber is enough. However, would not purchase again, as the puffy sealed bags take up too much space.

Works great with my FoodSaver
Works great with my food saver, I didn't think they would but they are just as good as the regular bags. Thank you
