The general functionality is great. The pictures are clear even out to infinity
I have only used the Giraffe for a bit. In general, I think this is a big improvement over what has been available, but it has some short comings too.The plusses: The general functionality is great. The pictures are clear even out to infinity. This is a huge plus for looking inside walls. I have been looking for a long focus unit for a long time. The other unit I have, and every other unit I have found only focus very close. Close focus only works if you can get very close to your subject. Inside walls, most often you can’t. Most other endoscopes also are too flexible to feed very far. And I like the smaller diameter. It is much smaller than most and that is a big advantage too. The rigidity is great. In these areas, I couldn’t be happier. The minus: The micro to standard usb adapter shipped with the unit was faulty. It has some sort of intermittent in it. It won’t stay connected when plugged into any usb connector on any computer I have tried. (3 of them) However, it isn't really all that useful anyway. I use a USB extension cable instead see below. The in between: The device really needs a 3- 6 foot flexible USB cable attached between the endoscope and a computer. It works ok with a phone and just the short cable but a cable helps there too. I purchased a 5 foot micro USB to standard USB cable that makes the unit far more useful. And the PC software suggested in the instruction sheet works but isn’t great. It doesn’t work with what appears to be a shutter button on the unit. And it doesn’t allow the user to select different resolutions except in video. . I use a software package called WebcamViewer, a free package from [...] . It doesn’t work with the shutter button either but it does allow one to select all resolutions. I prefer it.

These GiraffeCams are awesome. I bought both the long focus and the closer 2" focus cameras, well just because I wanted one of each.Over this past weekend I was able to run new electrical wires and put new ceiling fans in my daughter's home. I was in the attic and had to string new Romex wire from the attic down into the electrical switch box in 3 separate bedrooms. I drilled two holes in the top of each of the walls and was able to string the long focus GiraffeCam down so I could see the top of the electrical box. The light on the end of the GiraffeCam was spectacular inside a dark wall. I was easily able to see where the end of my Romex wire was and make it into the top of the switch box. I used it attached to an LG tablet and I couldn't be happier. It probably saved me hours of blindly messing around. The rigidity of each of the endoscopes is able to hold it's own weight in a horizontal position even when fully extended. Just buy one, you won't be disappointed.

Lots of Noise on the Image
I love this idea but mine was a dud, not sure why. Had lots of noise on the image and luckily I had purchased two different brands at same time (one close focus and one far focus [giraffe]). At first I thought the lens was dirty but it wasn't. Once I encountered the noise issue with the giraffe I decided to compare the two side by side with same app on same settings on my Android phone. The first image (whiter one) is the giraffe cam and the second is another 2 Megapixel endoscope camera from Amazon. You can clearly see the difference and I know you're thinking the giraffe image is a focus problem, but it isn't. There was no way to get the image any cleaner at any distance. And yes my keyboard is dirty, but I didn't know it until I had a endoscope camera! A new perspective can give you a new view on your life and cleaning habits. My only other gripe would be that having such a stiff neck on the camera combined with a flexible connector to the phone I would worry over time that I would break the flexible connection as it felt delicate. The giraffe was $44 and the other brand was $22, both 2 Megapixel image resolution. The giraffe had a great feel to it and I like that it came with a micro to regular USB adapter that the $22 version didn't.

Not any better (if as good) as the generic $19 cameras except the stiff/flex cable.
This is a premium priced camera (version 3.0) but delivers less than stellar results. For the price I expected a better product.Pros: The cable is stiff enough to work the camera into walls, ducts, pipes and around corners.Cons: The quality of video is terrible, it is super grainy even in great lighting conditions where most cameras work well. The video has a lot of noise in it regardless of what computer I have it connected to. The flip open connector seems to lose connection when used with an android phone, the connector works nicely with standard USB on Windows tablet. Android 6.0.1 constantly locks up with this camera and the CameraFi app.

Recommended for projects
Its definitely a rigid camera that works well. I love that it's waterproof too just in case I ever need that ability. Camera quality is decent. Don't expect a smartphone type qaulity, but it's good enough and shows great detail for utility purposes. USB and micro USB connector is pretty cool.

Picture quality is good to acceptable
Picture quality is good to acceptable. Stiff yet flexible is good. Long focal length works. I would like greater illumination in darkness, but may not be possible. Mirror did not fit. But with ambient light and some steadying the pictures are useful. I use a wider diameter wrap 6" it is easier to store and carry. 4 stars

Great for NON Mac Users
Works great and has a great picture, but I'm all Macs (iPhone, MacBook PRO Laptop, etc) so the only way I could use it was attaching to my MacBook which isn't very practical. Returned product for this reason.

What an awesome product!
These are awesome! I bought a bunch for our service technicians. They help diagnose many different problems in hard to reach areas. It's hard to fix what you can't see. Ever drop something into a small place and can't find it? No more. I did have one earlier model that failed after a few month and they replaced it no questions asked. Great company and great service! Many borescopes cost hundreds or thousands!
