GrumbacherGoldenedge Golden Toray Round Watercolor Brush, Synthetic Bristles, Size 12 (4620.12)

This is my second Grumbacher brush. I bought the first one randomly at an art shop once, and have been using it off and on, but more recently used it quite a bit for a project, and noticed how great the brush was. But it was bigger than I normally work with, so I decided to buy this size (3 round), and oh man is it a sweet brush. Compared to some I have had in the past at the same size, this one feels so much smoother and the line work you get with it is amazing! Craig Thompson would be proud! Get this if you use ink or watercolour!

I'm fairly new to watercolour painting, so it's taken me a while to figure out what brushes work well and which ones don't, as well as personal preference. Plus supply is limited in Canada (even at Michaels), so you end up paying a lot of money for brushes that just aren't up to par. However, Grumbacher Goldenedge is a good compromise between natural, very expensive brushes and cheap brushes that tend to fall apart or leave their bristles on the paper.

What's not to like about these brushes? Nice bristles, nice handle, good life, hold paint nicely, I have been using a #1 and #5 for a year or more and really like them so I just added these four to expand the line up in my brush jar and hoped that they would be still similar quality. So far so good. For botanicals and birds I find them very good.

Not bad, not fantastic either. I've since switched to Neptune Princetons and am not going back!
