Usually the first thing anyone wants to know about a magnet is how strong is the magnet? Well, let me just say that these magnets are strong enough to put one magnet on one side of my hand, and the other magnet on the other side of my hand, and still be able to send the magnetic field between my hand. That is impressive to me! I also have a thick wood dining room table and I am able to put one magnet on top of the table, and one on the bottom and mysteriously look like I am performing magic tricks for my nieces and nephews by making the magnet on the top part of the table move while I move the magnet hidden under the table. The last thing I'll mention about the strength of the magnets, is that they are so insanely strong that they will actually shatter each other into tiny little pieces! Yes, you read that right! Please allow me to explain so this doesn't happen to you. These magnets come with plastic washers between them to keep you and the magnets safe, and to allow the magents to be easily pulled apart from each other. I definitely recommend keeping the washers in place during magnet storage. In my shattering instance, I ended up allowing two of the magnets to get too close to each other after removing a protective washer. The strong magnetic field pulled the magnets together so quickly and strongly that one the magnets shattered on my dining room table. I was a little annoyed at first when I realized that I just broke a magnet but more than anything I was impressed by what I saw. This is the first time I've seen magnets that are powerful enough to shatter each other. I'd also recommend exercising extreme caution when using these magnets around cell phones, hard drives, laptops, and some other electronic devices. You can very easily damage these devices or their memory with these magnets. I would recommend storing these magnets in a safe area when not in use. These magnets can be used for different projects around the house or garage such as hanging things in the wall without having to use nails. They come with an adhesive backing that makes them perfect for different items in the garage as well. Size wise, these magnets are the smaller side. They aren't going to hold really heavy amounts of weight very well. When used for small amounts of weight, they will hold items with a very tight magnetic grip. Overall, I like these magnets. I get a little nervous when around them since they are powerful enough to break each other apart, but at same time I am still impressed that they are that powerful.

When I was small, I had a set of tiny dogs whose bodies contained magnets. When I turned them nose to nose, they could not be joined, no matter how hard I tried, but if I turned one the opposite direction, they flew together and stayed joined. That was my introduction to the power of magnets, but I never went into depth about them. Now I hear that Tesla invented motors that ran on magnets and, had the magnets been more powerful, could have produced power for some length of time. Very intriguing!I chose these magnets not for children to play with but to experience as well as read about the power of magnets. The six in this set are presently firmly stuck together, and I'll need help to pull them apart. Fun and informative - a good choice

At 1.25 inches diameter, this stack of 6 magnets is getting into the range of things that can deal out a hit point or two. I love them (even after they pinched the heck out of me when I got careless). They are exactly what anyone would expect, and hope for, when getting magnets this size.As for utility - so far they've been great at locating studs in the wall. There's no mistaking when they've found a nail. For now, they're stuck to the side of a metal shelf. At first, they were just stuck there to keep them out of the way. Since then, some tools have found their way over to being held by the magnets. Kinda handy, but I should have put spacers between magnet and shelf because they are really grabbing hold.

Will be using these magnets to mount two faces together in a project that requires one of the faces to be removable. I am confident that these are going to be great for that.The magnets themselves are more than strong enough for what I need, I need two pieces of plastic joined only a few millimetres apart and these magnets are still attracted to my hand. The stickers are adequate for most projects, but I am not intending on using them.A+ on the packaging, I haven't had a single magnet break after removing it from the lot, which can happen if they aren't separated as they do here with the plastic pieces.

Yikes, they're strong, maybe slightly too strong. They come with plastic separators. Let them touch each other and you'll have a hard time prying them apart... or at least I do.I've been using as refrigerator magnets. For example, they work great to hold up a relatively thick calendar. It never falls off the fridge like with weaker magnets but it is a little harder to pry them off to flip the page to the next month.Find the right use and they'll be perfect. For me, I could do with just a tad less strength.

Plan on using these for cabinets where I lost the magnetic latch. I'll just have to use some 1x2s and glue a striking plate so it'll attract the magnet and keep the cabinet doors closed.

They are SUPER strong magnets so that part is good. The chrome coating is very cheap ... easily dents and chips away.
