Needle is not stable
It's just "ok". The compass is compact, which is nice, and it does have declination markings and a longer neck strap than most scout compasses I've had. However the needle is not very stable and has trouble finding N sometimes. Makes it very tough when you're trying to adjust for declination.

This is a really good quality compass for hikes and maps. I keep it with my backpack always.
