NOT GOOD FOR SILICATE REMOVAL IN FRESHWATER
The silicate levels did not budge despite the water having little to no phosphates (under 0.1mg/l or ppm) to begin with. I left the PhosNet in for 2 weeks and nothing happened. Very disappointing because this product is so expensive. It was used in freshwater of pH 6.7 so that might be why it didn’t work. This product is probably only suited for phosphate removal and high pH waters.

Picture does not match product
Judging from the picture I was expecting a tub of Granular Ferric Oxide. What I got was a little baggie package with a small bag full of Granular Ferric Oxide. Very misleading photo.Three stars because the description was on point, was the same weight, and is the same product. Two stars down for the photos.

Kieselalgen und grüne Punktalgen ade - hervorragend!
Ich hatte in meinem kleinen 8,5 Liter-Brackwasser-Kugel-Aquarium mit Roten Hawaiigarnelen (Halocaridina rubra) Probleme mit brauen Kiesenalgen und grünen Punktalgen an den Glasscheiben und auf den Einrichtungsgegenständen. Die Einrichtung besteht aus Seiryu Steinen und täuschend echt aussehenden Deko-Kunstpflanzen (nicht die speziell für Aquarien hergestellten), alles fest montiert auf einer Plexiglas-Bodenplatte abgedeckt mit feinen Basaltsplitt.Das Wasser ist dank eines UVC-Filters kristallklar. Nitrit- und Nitratwerte waren mit den JBL-Tests kaum nachweisbar, Silikat und Phosphat aber deutlich erhöht. Das Brackwasser stelle ich aus destilliertem Wasser und synthetischem, silikat-, phosphat- und nitratfreien Meersalz her. Woher die stark erhöhten Silikat und Phosphatwerte im Wasser herrührten, kann ich nicht genau sagen. Ich vermute, dass das Silikat vom verwendeten Basaltsplit und die Phosphate vom Garnelenfutter herrührten.Nachdem ich Seachem PhosNet Synthetic GFO in einen feinmaschigen Ansaugkorb (Filter Guard 17mm, beidseitig mit End-Kappen verschlossen) gefüllt und in den 1-Liter-Eigenbau-Aussenfilter mit UVC-Strahler gelegt habe, ist das Wasser nun dauerhaft phosphat- und silikatfrei. Die Algen waren waren schon nach realtiv kurzer Zeit verschwunden. Für mich ist Seachem PhosNet Synthetic GFO eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Works
Works well. My phosphates were super high and I had a crazy alge outbreak. Have been using as per the instructions and phosphates are coming down and alge is starting get under control.
