Not just for sports
This is an easy to rub in red gel. It smells of menthol and camphor. I swear by CBD as something that takes the edge off pain if taken by mouth. I have never tried a CBD infused balm before so was intrigued. I found that this has an almost instant heating effect which is quite strong but not too strong. For me this quickly gave a soothing effect. After about half an hour the hot effect was completely gone and this is about the same as any other heating or cooling gel. But I do feel that there was just a slight taking off the sharp edge of my pain for about an extra 1/4 beyond that 1/2 hour which was probably a minor benefit of the CBD and other oils, it wasn't anything drastic but longer that I'd usually get with a standard gel. Overall you're not going to get any long term pain control with this but if you have a sports injury or post exercise soreness you should get instant relief for at least 30 mins. I cannot comment on what this is like as a pre-exercise warm up but it will definitely get through if you rub it in. If like me you often want some immediate effect while you wait for pain pills to kick in or to ensure you get off to sleep then this is ideal. For instant relief this product is pretty impressive but you cannot stick to this on its own for a proper knock down of pain for a considerable amount of time just as with any similar rubs. It's quite expensive for the amount you get but it's one of the better examples since a little goes a long way, it rubs in easily (which is important if you also have joint or muscular pain in the arm you use to rub stuff in with, an ironic thing that many older folks have to deal with), it's water based so no greasy mess, it does not smell of chemicals. As with many other heat rubs you will need to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards but since it was not greasy it cleaned away really well and I did not burn my eyes when I touched them a bit later, there was just a slight cold hint of menthol, be careful though. Really good product.

Nothing, nothing, too much....
This gel has all the hallmarks of quality - everything looks right, it applies exactly as it says, rubs in well, a pleasant smell, no greasiness on the hands - but when it came to heat, I still haven't figured it all out!I have been applying it to a tight calf muscle - often post swim.First time: nothing - no heatSecond time: nothing - no heatThird time: no heat, went for walk, came back and while sitting with my leg folded I started to feel the heat building nicely behind my knee. This was about 90 minutes after it had been applied.Fourth time: applied after a swim, looking forward to warming effect. Applied at 8pm. Nothing. Roll on about 1am when I was awakened by an intense burning sensation in my legs. That was 5 hours later! What conclusions can I draw? I thought at first the heat ingredient was unevenly distributed. But the last incident seemed to scotch that idea. It seems as if it really only works when either the muscles/skin is warm, or when the pores are open (maybe those are the same thing). If it is the pores, than I must have very closed pores, because this does nothing until heat is applied to the area.I'm sorry, but this hasn't worked for me.

My back was on fire
If someone says that this Swissforce Swissflex Warming Balm isn't strong then their nerve ending must be damaged.I suffer a lot with my back and use a variety of products to loosen up my stiff back muscles. As soon as I got this product I asked my partner to apply it for me all over my back. This was a couple of days after my chiropractor session as well.I opened the tub and smelt the familiar waft of heating balm which didn't bother me I'm used to it by now. My partner popped the balm all over my body and that was it. Within 30 seconds I felt like my whole back was on fire. I thought wow this is amazing! I started to sweat and huff and puff as what I imagine a menopause could feel like was literally just happening to my back,. I felt hot, I felt so hot that I probably could have laid in snow and I wouldn't feel it. An hour in and I am still sweating to my partners entertainment. The high heat lasted around 3-4 hours and only then did it start to ease off. Mind you after I got over the idea of feeling like I'm on fire on my back only! I realised that my muscles are less tense and I am slowly more relaxed. All the way through the night I still felt extremely hot but it all stopped the next day. I felt great I felt relaxed and I had hardly any pain.Maybe my tub was all made up of chili powder unlike some other reviewers but hey ho mine did have an extreme kick and although I used it for pain relief rather than for pre warm up I believe this will be fantastic to warm your muscles up before your work out.

Burned like hell!
I used this on my partner and oh my god he is never going to use this ever again. This burned his legs so badly and was not the gentle and soothing warmth that it advertised. Maybe too much was used, although it doesn't say how much to use and I didn't use that much when I applied it to his leg because of this reason, plus it has a watery texture so not much was actually needed. It took its time to warm up, which made up think that it didn't work at first, but then when it did, it was really over powering. He went and run his legs under a cold shower to try and wash it all off, but this didn't work, possibly because it had absorbed into his skin, but whatever the reason, he was in pain. This was all after just using it once, before exercise and not the recommended twice, again after exercise, luckily.Use small amounts and test it on a small area first, waiting 10/15 minutes to see how your body reacts to it. I applied it to his legs and obviously washed my hands straight afterwards, but I didn't feel any burn, but I also didn't have it on long enough.
