With new coated strings it’s impossible to position this between the strings without it slipping out. (Note: there are grooves under the lid top for snapping the strings into, but that seems to aggressive on the strings). Since I leave my guitar out for grab-and-go play several times a day, I started placing it on the side (see pic), sometimes at the low E, sometimes at the high E, and it works well; guitar stays in tune longer. The sponge does need to be moistened daily.

Bought this to use with the guitar during the hot dry season, but it's useful whenever the humidity is low to keep the instrument safe. Easy to use and value for money.
