Made in the Shade: Life Lessons from the Shadows

This book is a page turner and written from the heart. I knew Gregg in high school and have seen him at some of our Parkway Central and West class reunions. Parts of his life battle has been hard, but he always falls back on his strong faith to give him the courage and strength he needs to continue down the path of life. I found his story very interesting and heartwarming. It would be a great gift to give to someone who is going through a challenging time. I highly recommend this book and if he were to write another one, I would definitely want to read it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Made in the Shade! I wished Gregg had been sitting beside me so that we could talk about every paragraph, every event, as they are happenings many of us can understand and relate to. I wanted to tell him my similar story or about my grandparents and times I stayed with them. I laughed with Gregg and then cried over the hardships he and Nancy had to endure, and was inspired by their faith that continues to sustain them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a true to life story about taking responsibility and rising above the clouds and seeing the silver lining. Thank you Gregg for sharing the easy and hard times...I was truly inspired.*****

The complete story. A true to life experience that we all should know

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Gregg Ratliff's story about his childhood and family. Like the author, I've also lived in the St. Louis area and have traveled through Arkansas (where a lot of the story takes place). The vivid descriptions bring back some of my own memories. I found the importance of family that is addressed and emphasized in the book quite heartfelt and uplifting.

Casual writing style, full range of emotions, realistic and optimistic.Heartily recommend it.
